Well! After nearly 3 years of 5:2 this is the 1st time I have started the fasting today thread. I'm in today instead of my usual Monday/Wednesday slots as we were away for a university reunion at the weekend which involved much eating and drinking. The friend we were staying with cooked us breakfast yesterday so that was a non starter. I only managed one fast last week after returning from a 2 week holiday. All in all the last couple of months have been full of holidays/socialising and although I have fasted in between all 3 lines on my tracker are heading north. I've noticed that my snacking and sweet eating has definitely increased again so it's time to get back into the routine of twice weekly fasts not only to get rid of what I have gained which will take a LONG time but also get get back in control of the 'extras'. I thought my eating was permanently more controlled but obviously it is the fasting that gives me that control
Morning [tagLil[/tag] . I'm in today and in somewhat the same boat as you. Much fun and new routine has led to erratic fasting and far too many Empire Biscuits. The quest for Battenburg hasn't helped either
So, spurred on by the invitation to pre register for the Christmas challenge, I'm in for my second of the week.
Sunday was a half fast ( went all day then had a normal dinner) so Tuesday and Thursday will be 500cal fasts.
Much like you, I thought I was in control but realise that I need the structure of fasting to shape it!
Still learning after more than three years! (edited as I can't remember how long I've been doing this ;) :D )
Lovin it.
Good luck for your fast and to anyone else joining today :clover:
I usually fast on a Monday but I was just ending four days in a row of eating lunch with various friends! Two lunches were at their homes and one was a 3 course buffet and a traditional 3 course plated lunch on Sunday. No one knows I have been doing 5:2 since April and that's what I like about this system as (apart from certain items that disagree with my health) I can eat anything when I am with them. Must admit that I felt so content after each meal I didn't eat anything else until the next day so really it was a bit like doing 16:8. In fact my husband is following the same pattern but without doing the two fast days and he has lost 12 lbs in 5 weeks. Anyway, weigh day is on Friday so I'd better do the fast day today. Good luck everyone!
Hello, Tuesday is my regular extra fast day as Mondays never work. I'll echo Lil and Janeg. Me too. I've been on holiday and I put on 2 kg over my maintenance range. AND to my horror, I notice how I want to eat more than I ate before the holiday and how I love unhealthy high carb things!!! I was in Italy and the free breakfast included a lot of white bread and even cake... Sigh. For this and the next week I am going to fast twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Hoping this will lower my weight and get me back to sensible eating patterns....
@Lil and @janeg I'm agreeing and understanding all you wrote... I am here too today on a more focused push to get more control between fasts. It was running away from me. I'm also in the challenge group. Good luck to everyone today, and success in the intervening days! :clover:
