This is my start day on diet, my very first fast day it is now 11.55 am and I am now rumbling tummy but intend on having a cup of tea to stave the pangs. I have 7 cherry tomoatos, small bit cucumber and a low fat yoghurt with me to work today, i intend on eating my main meal tonight within the limit, can anyone tell me where i can find quick counts on what to eat, i have a marks and spencers low cal meal for tonight which i am going to have with my salad or veg allowance but wondered how every else knows what to eat when they save the allowance up for tea time, i am going to fast on a tue and thursday i think x
I'm not fasting today but am trying to be a bit more conscious about eating only when I'm really hungry and trying to make it nutritious as much as possible. Having said that, my 'breakfast' has been 2 chocolate chip cookies! I had a colleague coming round for a coffee to discuss n event we're doing, and I wanted to make some treats so I made an oat-based cookie using coconut oil and mashed banana so in a way it was semi-healthy (if you look the other way at the chocolate chunks and the sugar...) - as I knew I was going to be eating these mid-morning I didn't have any breakfast and am going to have some veggie crudités and some jalapeno hummous I got in the reduced section for lunch.
Welcome Gillso! I do the Michael Mosley version of the 5:2 diet, where you eat 500 cals two days a week ('fast days') then eat 'normally' the other 5 days. Others here do 3 fast days a week and some eat freely within an 8 hour 'window', which gives them a 16 hour fast every day (16:8). I've not read the 2 day diet book so I don't know what those rules are but it sounds like there are different plans. I guess you just choose the one you think you'll be able to stick to and follow it.
In other news, it's my wedding anniversary today! 2 years! And for the second year in a row we won't be together as my husband is working away...grrr...maybe next year. I'm in today and have a steady stream of visitors, from my colleague, to my mum & 5 year old niece, to a window surveyor and an electrician! And it's bake off tonight, so I'm happy!
I am getting really bad at signing in though. It's very busy at work and the phone just won't stop.
Fasting Tuesday & Thursday this week again, starting to be a bit of a habit now but it appears to work easier for OH. Oh well, to keep the peace.

To clarify those questions, a rough guide is 500kcal/day for women and 600kcal/day for men. You may eat what you fancy just try to stay within the calories.
Personaly I love ryvita with ham, cheese and tomato for lunch, just water to drink during the day and then a WW frozen dinner. Whatever works best for you.

I am in today and (gulp) tomorrow. My first attempt at the back-to-back. I really want to get 2 days in this week. Sandwiched between the US hol Monday and my birthday travels this weekend...

It's just a series of beverages. Then a nice burger and asparagus at home. Early to bed. Repeat. Then feasty (that's a word?) weekend!

I'm just about through the working day, have survived on coffee with skimmed milk, a couple of fruit teas and lots of water, will have a cuppasoup and some raw veg tonight - I don't vary this very much, but it works for me!
Currently only doing one fast day and one semi (where I won't eat anything till late afternoon) as don't really need to lose too much more weight. Good luck to all for the rest of the day, I know some of you in different time zones are just starting out.
mummybunny, it isn't a recipe I know but as long as it isn't creamy and you have a small partion with a lot of veg or salad you should be OK. Will we be seeing your cookies on GBBO?
50 mins till dinner time, my prawns and salad are ready to go, nobody else wants to eat before 6.30 though
