I'm kind of in today. I did a 500 (well 524) day yesterday and going to do 16:8 today and tomorrow. I won't be counting the cals really as today is the start of hols(going to dinner tonight to start early). Maldives here I come :heart: :clover:

Good luck everyone - starving here after yesterday but hoping to hold off until 1pm. 4hours to :starving:
I'm in today. Travelling from sunny South Wales to (hopefully sunny) London for an overnight business trip so trying to think of 500cal supermarket/chain restaurant offerings for dinner tonight which will see me through a pre-breakfast run tomorrow too.

Lots of meetings today so hope my tummy behaves and doesn't gurgle too loudly at my colleagues :-S

I'm in today! Changed my Monday fast to Tuesday because of the USA holiday. Busy day today with lots of meetings, including a lunch meeting! Planning to stick with a salad!

This is my start day on diet, my very first fast day it is now 11.55 am and I am now rumbling tummy but intend on having a cup of tea to stave the pangs. I have 7 cherry tomoatos, small bit cucumber and a low fat yoghurt with me to work today, i intend on eating my main meal tonight within the limit, can anyone tell me where i can find quick counts on what to eat, i have a marks and spencers low cal meal for tonight which i am going to have with my salad or veg allowance but wondered how every else knows what to eat when they save the allowance up for tea time, i am going to fast on a tue and thursday i think x
I am so new to this it seems so complicated at moment, in the book i haev the 2 day diet book it says on a restricted day you can have 1000 calories? Is this right or is it 500 calories? x please can someone let me know as I dont want to go wrong on my first day x

I'm not fasting today but am trying to be a bit more conscious about eating only when I'm really hungry and trying to make it nutritious as much as possible. Having said that, my 'breakfast' has been 2 chocolate chip cookies! I had a colleague coming round for a coffee to discuss n event we're doing, and I wanted to make some treats so I made an oat-based cookie using coconut oil and mashed banana so in a way it was semi-healthy (if you look the other way at the chocolate chunks and the sugar...) - as I knew I was going to be eating these mid-morning I didn't have any breakfast and am going to have some veggie crudités and some jalapeno hummous I got in the reduced section for lunch.

Welcome Gillso! I do the Michael Mosley version of the 5:2 diet, where you eat 500 cals two days a week ('fast days') then eat 'normally' the other 5 days. Others here do 3 fast days a week and some eat freely within an 8 hour 'window', which gives them a 16 hour fast every day (16:8). I've not read the 2 day diet book so I don't know what those rules are but it sounds like there are different plans. I guess you just choose the one you think you'll be able to stick to and follow it.

In other news, it's my wedding anniversary today! 2 years! And for the second year in a row we won't be together as my husband is working away...grrr...maybe next year. I'm in today and have a steady stream of visitors, from my colleague, to my mum & 5 year old niece, to a window surveyor and an electrician! And it's bake off tonight, so I'm happy!
We are in as well.

I am getting really bad at signing in though. It's very busy at work and the phone just won't stop. :curse:

Fasting Tuesday & Thursday this week again, starting to be a bit of a habit now but it appears to work easier for OH. Oh well, to keep the peace. :heart:

Seen a couple of new people on here.

To clarify those questions, a rough guide is 500kcal/day for women and 600kcal/day for men. You may eat what you fancy just try to stay within the calories.

Personaly I love ryvita with ham, cheese and tomato for lunch, just water to drink during the day and then a WW frozen dinner. Whatever works best for you.

I am in today! Having coffee for breakfast and nothing else other than water until dinner time. I'll have some left over grilled flank steak with spinach and grilled veggies, yum!
I'm in today. The masochist in me is making chocolate chip cookies with my daughter for a play date she has tomorrow. Our Spanish au pair is making pork fillet with Pedro Ximenez sherry for dinner tonight - I am going to have as small a portion as I can and hope it comes in under 500, but in fact not actually count it.

I'm optimistic about tomorrow's weigh in - hoping at least SOME of the last weeks' gain of 4 lbs is reversing itself!
Hello fellow fasters!

I am in today and (gulp) tomorrow. My first attempt at the back-to-back. I really want to get 2 days in this week. Sandwiched between the US hol Monday and my birthday travels this weekend...

You should see my desk at the moment:
Sparkling water
Iced coffee
Iced tea
Lemon for flavoring all this water and iced tea

It's just a series of beverages. Then a nice burger and asparagus at home. Early to bed. Repeat. Then feasty (that's a word?) weekend!

Congratulations greenmonster, it's a real shame that you're having to spend your anniversary apart though.

I'm just about through the working day, have survived on coffee with skimmed milk, a couple of fruit teas and lots of water, will have a cuppasoup and some raw veg tonight - I don't vary this very much, but it works for me!

Currently only doing one fast day and one semi (where I won't eat anything till late afternoon) as don't really need to lose too much more weight. Good luck to all for the rest of the day, I know some of you in different time zones are just starting out.
In today - my fast is almost at an end now. I had a small glass of strawberry and banana smoothie for breakfast, and apart from a mug of miso soup/broth at lunch, that was all I ate until dinner. Our local Aldi had barramundi fillets in the freezer section which I've never tried before (I know it's popular in Australia), so I had that for dinner, baked in foil with a bit of lemon juice, basil, garlic and a few cherry tomatoes, with a small baked sweet potato and a veggie stir fry. It was absolutely lovely. Will have to buy that one again!
I've been fasting today, need my dinner now!
Oh Greenmonster I had forgotten about Bake Off tonight !

mummybunny, it isn't a recipe I know but as long as it isn't creamy and you have a small partion with a lot of veg or salad you should be OK. Will we be seeing your cookies on GBBO?

50 mins till dinner time, my prawns and salad are ready to go, nobody else wants to eat before 6.30 though :starving:
