Who is fasting with me today?

I really need a good fast, just too much indulgence the last week!

Not feeling quite "in the zone" but I WILL DO THIS!

Good morning Otter and good luck today.
I'm in for the 2nd of my back to back days. I feel more in the zone today than yesterday.
I might try a couple of 16:8 this week too as I could do with a bit of a boost for weight loss.

Yes I'm in too! just had a yummy peach & mango black tea - I might even indulge my new-found love of black coffee later - who'd have thunk it?? Me, drinking black coffee?? I normally don't drink coffee of any sort!!

I tried fasting for 2 hours yesterday, but I couldn't continue due to falling in a huge emotional heap over a project that was failing - then ate McDonald's for breakfast - never mind! Both project & fasting ability have resuscitated today, along with willpower - or whatever you think it takes to fast? I don't know whether willpower is completely it for me - for me, it's more like speaking gently to myself, as if I was a good parent to my inner child.

yay for all Tuesday fasters!
@jools7 - I do like the imagery of your inner voice - I'm definitely not the best parent to my inner child at times.. too much of the guilt treatment! :curse:

@suzed - back to back - WOW! :shock: .... respect! :smile: I'm looking forward to a day off fasting tomorrow, before doing it all again Thursday.

yes, I find it interesting to actually listen to those inner voices & what they're telling you - and answer back if required! They don't get to run the show for me anymore unless they can prove that their intentions are good! Guilt is just counter-productive over time I reckon. But maybe I'm getting a bit deep for this daily fasting string, maybe it would belong better over at the Mountaineering Tent?

I have to be honest.. I haven't done a 'proper' fast for weeks, maybe even months. I just haven't been able to eat less than 500 cals and stick to it.

I will go all day without eating up until about 5PM, but by then I'm so, so hungry I just binge.

I know I need to get back to it but I'm just finding it difficult.

I AM going to do it today.. even though I have a cold and just want to get home and eat chocolate under my duvet.

I have had a couple of coffees and lemsip but am starting to get really hungry now so will have a miso shortly.

Dinner is peppered salmon with broccoli and creamed corn. I just hope I can resist the chocolate..

Any tips for someone struggling with the fasts?

well, for me, @LilSmiler, I guess it's no surprise - it's all about what I say to myself. On a fast day it's all - "yes, darling I know you want to keep eating, but earlier in the day you were also interested in fasting successfully. It's only a few hours till tomorrow morning when you can eat, why don't you try some pleasurable things to distract yourself in the meantime - a bath etc. Think how good you'll feel when you've completely nailed that fast day" But sometimes I have to engage even more with my "inner toddler" who's screaming for food and won't be distracted - then it goes more like, "okay, let's feel into this a bit more - you're really upset and you really want to eat - I hear you!" Perhaps you can phone a friend and tell them how much you want to eat? or you can really explore the feeling of hunger as you're experiencing it in your belly or brain, going deeper and more detailed until it transforms itself into an artform (not everyone's cup of tea, this one!) - dance or sound or drawing? This approach is richer and may be more satisfying than just distraction.

Or maybe there's a really difficult emotional state you're experiencing and you really need to take the edge off it by eating? What's the self-talk going on around it? Just take a moment to really listen to it. Are you saying something like, "what's the point, it's not worth it," or even "I'M not worth it" to yourself? or there are many other emotions that can surface like this. If it's the example I give, I might say something like an affirmation, "Yes, I know it's not easy, but deep down I really know that it's worth it and I'm worth it" - even if you don't really feel it, you can fake it till you make it. Practice saying it or similar affirmation over and over until you start to believe yourself.

Goodness, I don't seem to be able to stop myself going deep today!
Don't be too hard on yourself @lil. Your body will be getting the health benefits from fasting until 5, even if you're not sticking to 500 cals. Be kind to yourself today if you're feeling under the weather.
@otter I've been doing back to bck for a few weeks now and actually find it easier. I feel less hungry today than I did yesterday. I always struggled with my second day when I had a normal day in between.

I'm in! Just got back from golf so feeling virtuous at the mo. Have had 230 cals so far, HD pastie. Going with chicken and a mountain of salad for dinner. Fingers crossed we have a good day! :grin: :cool:
I'm reporting in very late for a sort of Fast/ very low calorie day.

I was on my second cup of tea with skimmed milk before I remembered I had meant to be fasting. Just having a bowl of my 60 cal veg soup from the freezer then Prawn salad for dinner.
It won't be perfect but better than nothing as the last week has been full of mindless eating.

I'm also fasting today. Going very well. Easiest fast so far.

Well 550 cals but I don't care! That's a lot lower than I've been having the past few weeks :)
