So here I am - nearly a stone heavier since last August (sob!) and I'm determined not to let my weight increase any further. Today is going to be my fast day - and I shall return again on Thursday - yep! Bean is back1

Anyone going to be joining me today? Or will you all be celebrating love by enjoying a nice meal out? (Sigh!)

Whatever you decide - have a lovely Valentine's Day everyone!!

Hi @nursebean. Good to see you, and congratulations for getting yourself fired up for fasting this week.
Tuesday was a fast day for me too. I have been going well with them, but today I fell off about 5pm. A couple of cookies at work and some extra nuts and snacks etc after dinner. Oh well! I will try again on Wednesday and will do better.
Good luck to you today Bean. You can do it!

Hi @MerryMelb good to see you here fasting with me - at least you're not alone - well sort of. I guess your day has finished now. I see you say you're going to fast Wednesday as well. You mean you're doing a back to back? Blimey! I don't think I could do that although I'm planning on having an 800 cal day tomorrow - possibly! I'm determined to shift this excess weight. Its driving me nuts that I can't stay on track. Any distractions such as my holiday with my sister - or Christmas - just sends me right out of my zone and into no man's land! Only now, some four months or so later, am I starting to get a grip - doh!

Just a veggie kiev later for little old Bean!

I'm fasting too @nursebean and @MerryMelb, I've had some veggie soup for lunch and another of my veggie stews with slimrice for dinner. I've had an active day with a jog and a walk and I'm starting to feel a bit rumbly now.

Kudos to you.
I will not be joining you today, lamb shank and green veg with dauphinois potatoes. Desert and some champers. SORRY ,!! . Maybe Thursday as I am out tomorrow.

Good to see you @SianS and @carieoates! I'm afraid I have to admit that my fast was blown out the water in the end. I was watching a film and suddenly (I don't know how it happened) I was attacked by a bowl of cereal followed by a bowl of chocolates! I was ambushed!! Anyway, said chocolates have now gone and I shan't be buying any more.

I'm planning on doing 800 cals today (50g carbs) and then trying again with a 'proper' fast tomorrow. Lets see if that actually works this time - sigh!

Re eating too much chocolate...
16 Feb 2017, 02:38
Hi @Nursebean and everyone

What is it with chocolates? Why is it so easy for some of us to eat too many? Even once the pleasure of eating them has gone, one can still stuff them in!!!

Sometimes I am able to have a small amount and feel satisfied. I have yet to work out exactly what factors on any particular day influence the amount I eat but these do include:
- how much protein I had with my evening meal
- how tired I am
- how bored I am
- how motivated I am
- how much I feel like a reward (....!)

I don't want to give up chocolate and I am not concerned about eating chocolate if that is what I feel like and I savour and enjoy every mouthful.

What I am concerned about is eating chocolate mindlessly. I guess I just have to make myself not do that - i.e. if I am going to eat chocolate I need to do what Tracieknits does, and sit down, perhaps with a coffee, and concentrate on the enjoyment of the taste. And not do anything else at the same time. I should add this to my weekly challenge...

Does anyone have any thoughts about why we continue to eat less nutritious food even when we are not particularly enjoying it?
