Hi All

This used to help me loads so I thought I'd restart the thread. This is a liquid fasting thread to share tips and tricks to get through. Liquid fasting can be 0 cals to 500cals as long as it is liquid.

This is my first week back liquid fasting after a 5 month break. I started fasting last week and this week now trying a liquid fast. It's my second fast of the week but first liquid fast. I have made up a batch soup using the following:

2 stock cubes (60 cals)
250gms mushrooms (40)
200gms celery (35)
some curry powder for taste.
Thats 135 for big pot ( 65 basically per day)

I am going to consume half today. Its surprisingly delicious and filling. With milk in coffee I should easily come out around 100-150 cals each day.Hoping to kickstart the weightloss basically and get down to nearly 0 cals in a months time
Ooh thanks for sharing that, and I look forward to seeing how you get on. Good luck.
Thanks for resurrecting this thread @jmousey. It made me decide to try it for my regular fast day today as I just posted in the Fasting Today thread. I just want to see if I can. I may have some miso soup but definitely liquid only and much less than 500 cal. :like:
Oh brilliant, thanks for this! Going to make this up for Friday's fast. Going to play the day by ear but try to go liquid only, at least until dinner.Just needed this soup idea for it. I hear miso soup is a good one too, but I can't get the ingredients to make it at the moment.

How much water would you normally make this with? ta :)
I found single servings of miso soup at a local Asian supermarket, just add 6 oz. boiling water. Likely not very healthy, but I like the taste and convenience. On fast days I usually go to something pre-frozen or extremely simple. Don't feel like cooking :starving: . Maybe I will make some low cal soups and freeze them on my non-fast days. Good idea, @jmousey
HI @jmousey. I'm not up for liquid fasting at the moment, but good luck with yours. Nice to see you back here. :like:
Hi @rawkaren - its good to be back. The only way I see results is fasting - so back here again. Nearly at the end of the liquidfast and have to say I don't know if I'll do a second day in a row. I think I will instead do Friday. I've had a mushroom and celery soup overload and I'm freezing. If I didn't have a major exercise class tomorrow I'd persevere but I'll do todays liquid and then a day off me thinks.

great to see a lot of the gang still here and a lot of new people too
I want to check-in after my first 36 hr. liquid fast. Just woke up and not at all hungry. Only had one 25 kcal miso soup yesterday. I think it was easier than the usual 500 kcal fast; less hunger pangs during the day :like:
Only thing is increased sleepiness at night. Went to bed at 8:30 pm  and slept like a log. :victory: I get this with fast days anyway. I wonder if it is the body trying to conserve energy because of the reduced intake :?:
I think I'll try this again on the weekend. Thanks @jmousey, @KataMac and @Manderley and others for your helpful discussion about this variation on intermittent fasting.
I think it's best to put a day in between. Back to back fasting is not recommended.
Hey guys, I did 34hour fast of about 100 cals. I agree with @tracieknits about back to back fasting. Not only is it not recommended but I think there could be health rule on this site that we should not do more than 36hours of 0 cals so apologies if I intended to break that rule. I found the 34hours ok - I was very hungry last night I have to say and fairly hungry and groggy this morning. @judithn I was also really sleepy and used to be like that when I did liquid fasting before. I will defo try two liquid fasts a week but not two days in a row. The only thing is that my breakfast was massive because I couldn't seem to fill my energy levels but I seem to remember that abating over time before.
Its the wonderful nights sleep that one of the biggest upsides to LF for me. I do it most Mondays - zero cals as I have black tea/coffee and water. Glad the thread has been restored
I'm not fasting this week, but will be again next week. I virtually always liquid fast, I find it easier. I'm either eating or not eating, so don't have to think about it. Also don't get as hungry, eating just a little seems to trigger more hunger waves.

I think fasting 2 days back to back would be very doable for some people, not so much for others. Like everything, each to their own, what works for one person won't necessarily work for another. I personally wake up REALLY hungry after a fast, and doubt I'll ever do 2 days in a row.
I'm still liquid fasting - I find it so much easier. I tried going back to 500 cals but once I started eating I couldn't stop. I wouldn't say I wake up really hungry but I definitely need to eat.
