Second week
09 Jun 2014, 12:08
Hi,have just started my second week of the 5/2 diet, and am a little disappointed that my weights stayed the same, fasted last week on Monday and Thursday and had between 432 and 470 calories on those two days, and just ate normally the rest of the week. As I only need to lose 4 to 5 pounds and weigh 9 st 1lb at the moment, will the diet take a little longer before I start seeing any weight loss ? I'm female 5ft 4in and my BMI is 22

Hello and welcome.
It's seems that the less you have to lose the slower it can be in some people.
Just keep plugging away and you'll receive the other health benefits whilst waiting for your body to catch up.

Good luck.

Hi Gilly! Yes it may take longer as you are close to goal but have faith and keep going as you are getting great repairing benefits by 5:2 ing. A lot of people in your position find they dont see much loss on the scales but they do on the tape measure which let's face it is really more important, so measure, measure, measure!!!

Hi @Gillyt And Welcome to this great forum full of interesting stuff, advice and tips to help you through each fastday, keep doing what you've been doing, measure everywhere, and give this WOL one month
or so and you should be rewarded with a loss in the numbers somewhere, if all that fails try a reduction in your carb intake especially on your fastdays that should kickstart you into weightloss, good luck. :clover: :clover: :clover:

Hi

Sorry it is so frustrating for you but please hang in there and "have a little faith, baby". Weight loss is slower if you haven't much to lose. It has also been my experience that the results of what you do are not immediate - for instance when I took a week's break from 5:2 I weighed less next time I stepped on the scales, and when I upped my exercise a lot it seemed to have no effect for weeks. There are all sorts of complications such as fluid retention that get between less food and less pounds and inches, but stick with it. You may hasten things along if you cut back on carbs - it is not in the "rules" of intermittent fasting, but many people find it helps. :clover:
