Fasting Friday 22nd Feb 2013
22 Feb 2013, 06:56
I'm fasting Friday this week rather than the usual Thursday (for me)...
Kicking off the day with a home made muesli and yoghurty type thing (see the book)....

Good luck to all Friday Fasters!
Good morning and here we go again. My usual chai tea and I'd really like to lose more than 0.1kgs, as after Monday's fast. Hey ho on we go!
Im doing my second fast today. Yoghurt with sunflower seeds, home meade pea soup and mozarella and tomato salad for tea. All things I love and would eat anyway - yippee!
Hi, I'm joining you fasting today. Only one fast for me this week, been away staying with friends & being a secret faster at the moment only got today left! I'm hopefully waiting for the results to speak for themselves then will be shouting about this WOL from the roof tops. Having been a serial yoyo dieter for the past 30yrs this is by far the easiest I've ever tried & believe me I've tried them all!!
I'm on my fourth fast day. For the first 3 days, we had a breakfast (porridge), lunch (about 300 cals) and a thickish soup for supper. I lost a staggering 500 grams! So today we're trying a longer fast...

From yesterday's dinner to breakfast (at 11 am) = 15 hours
Breakfast: banana (100 cals) + biscotte (35 cals)
Breakfast to dinner = 8 hours
Dinner: squash and pineapple curry + tiny bit of rice (300 cals)
Dinner to tomorrow's breakfast = 12 hours

There's a few calories spare for miso soup and raw carrots should these become necessary during the day!

But somehow this seems a much bigger deal than the previous days - I'm "properly" fasting, rather than just eating three tiny meals a day. I'm not sure how I'll manage, but I do need to stick to the mantra "It's just for one day"
But I am so COLD!!!!!!!
On my 4th fast today, water all day for me and nothing else until tonight where I might have some cereal if I get hungry or I will try and skip the 500 cals today for a flush out.
Am fasting today after yesterdays epic fail. first time on a Friday for me, not sure how I'll do,
I'm booked in for laser eye surgery this afternoon, so the nerves are helping keep my appetite subdued for now. Good luck to all fasters today .
Ooh scary Chocobunny - hope it goes well. I know loads of people whove had it done and theyre all over the moon with the results
Thanks saggy, they have just rang saying the computer that speaks to the laser isn't working so I'm not sure what's happening now, waiting for another call.
the stress I'm sure should help my weightloss?
I'm on my 2nd fast this week.
Normally I weigh in on a Friday after a fast day, but as I'm fasting today after only 1 fast this week I'm delaying the weigh in.
I haven't lost anything the last 2 weigh in days, and am finding I am very constipated on the diet so after so many days I can't remember I'm going to have to resort to taking something herbal.
I have this problem normally due to thyroid problems, but its so much worse now.
The only side effect for me on this WOE.
Hope everyone has a good day. My post should put you off eating for a while. Lol.
Good luck.
Prune juice works for me! Not sure about the calorie content but its yummy!
Hi Friday people, joining you today as I usually fast on Thursday but had to go out. The out was not nice as I had to have my BP checked and after the nurse had taken it twice she rushed out and fetched a doctor in. He took it again and declared it to be 'rather high' and doubled my BP pills. Not a reassuring thing to happen. One of the very things I embarked on the 5:2 diet was to bring BP down and reduce the medication. Oh well, only on third week so must give it a chance. Left me feeling bit shaky today but coping with my fast. :|
Wow not what you were expecting to hear eh!
I wonder how long it takes for the health benefits to kick in then.
Second fast of the week for me and will have my third on Monday - haven't weighed myself for 2 weeks and will wait until the end of the month.

Sorry to hear about your scare maybugg77 - I sometimes find that I feel so anxious having my BP taken at the surgery that it shows a much higher reading than it actually is when I take it at home. Perhaps take it easy today?

Re constipation - I have thyroid problems and occasional constipation which I deal with by sucking sugar free sweets (Ricola) - they have a mildly laxative effect and sort me out, and they taste nice! They're around 6 calories per sweet and 5 usually does the trick gently! I know it's not the best idea to consume lots of artificial sweetener but I think 4/5 sweets a couple of times a week can't be that harmful. Any sugar free sweet does it - M&S sell really yummy rhubarb and cream sugar free sweets.
Thanks for the sympathy Chocobunny and Mariahome. I think the bitter cold wind coming off of the sea here didn't help. Took BP this morning and I didn't think it too bad. Just succumbed to a small bowl of soup. Smaller meal tonight then.
