To my disappointment, I gave in to the crisp craving and am now over my 500 calories by 150 cals. Question is, shall I still count this as a fast day, or should I just give it up as a bad job, eat a bit more of what I fancy (cos I'm REALLY hungry) and try again another day?
I would stop eating now but I eat that amount possibly normally on a fast day. If I gave myself permission to give up for such a small amount, I would never fast again.

Hunger is brain sensing you will give in. If you ignore it, hunger will do. Drink something??
650 is fine, do you really want to can it having come this far today? :) do what feels right.
Hi starmaker I'd say count it because it's got to be way under your calories aloud daily, don't beat yourself up about it just put it behind you and move onto planning your next fastday and maybe save Cal's for cup soup or oxo. Having said that I'm aloud 550 but at beginning my first 3/4 fastdays were prob well over 650. Good luck :clover:
I would count it and allow yourself the bag of crisps instead of feeling guilty about it, if needs be skip a usual bag of crisps on a non fast day and call it even! Fasts sometimes go wrong, so don't worry about it!
I went a bit over today as well. Someone treated me to a flat white coffee and I couldn't not drink it. Saved all the rest of my calories until late this evening but am now starving and really looking forward to breakfast tomorrow.
I suspect I've gone over today as there was free pizza for lunch and I weakened and had a slice. I never count calories just stick to v. Small portions and no carbs on a fast day, A bit over a bit under I'm not too bothered I recon if I counted calories I'd become obsessive and get frustrated and give up, as long as weight is still coming off even if slowly I'm happy.
Yes I'm sure I go over on some days as I hate to count calories too - also avoid over salty food, it just brings on the hunger pangs!
Don't give up, count it as a fast day. As Moogie said - don't waste all your effort earlier in the day :-) plus I agree that some crisp isn't the end of the world :-)
Well I'd give up if I was you.

On a more serious note I don't think you'd be the first person to have had a lapse.

Just pick up where you left off.
Planned my food yesterday and then auntie came with fresh cream cakes. An extra 330 calories. Still counted it as a fast day as didn't want to do another day having been really good til 2pm. & it would be rude not to eat yummy cream cake :) Missed breakfast today to make up for it. Life happens & 5:2 is so flexible so don't feel as it you have ruined your fast. Do whatever feels right for you. xx
This is me tonight. Fasting went very well today, I planned on a liquid fast but the moment I got home from work I couldn't resist the grapes in the fridge and the rest is history. I will try harder on Thursday. For some reason have found it a struggle this evening, plus I have a little headache.
Count it and deduct 150 calories off a normal day so evening up your weekly total, now forget about it and move on, :like:

Ballerina x
Great idea Ballerina et al! I just overshot by about 150- 200 cal - it was reading about the latest appraisal process at work this afternoon in that '3pm dog day doldrums' period that did it  had to have a comfort 'bite' to get myself over it  :dazed:

Never mind, tomorrow is another day, and I don't do guilt-fests!
