Apologies if this is covered somewhere else, but is it possible to set it up so that you don't get an email every time someone posts on a thread to which you have contributed?

I can see there are various options in the UCP re emails, but I can't see an option to allow/disallow emails when a thread is updated. It's very annoying to get so many emails.

Thanks, Deb
UCP -> Board Preferences -> Edit Posting Defaults ("Notify me upon replies by default")

Also check UCP -> Overview -> Manage Subscriptions
in case you have subscribed to a topic

Hope that helps :)
Maybe the default should be changed to not email every thread you post to? I am seeing email from these forums with about a 24 hour delay - as if the hosting server is having hassles keeping up with the amount of outgoing email.

Someone should check the smtp queue on the server...

(Geek - run a few phpBB forums myself if you need credentials. ;))
Good call. It was originally requested by a number of members that they should be subscribed by default, but the forums have grown considerably since then. I'll remove that modification when I'm back at my desk.
Thanks for the replies, changing the default sounds good x
Default changed and I've also turned off the notifications for anyone who hasn't visited in the last 2 weeks to reduce the load on the mailserver. Looks like most people never bothered to turn off the notifications but I bet most folks just binned them!
