What does the exclamation mark in a triangle beside a comment mean? As you can probably tell, i am not very computer literate!

It means you chose that icon when you posted. I guess it's meant to draw people's attention to a thread that warns about something dangerous or dodgy.

there's a "Post icon" list of icons above the Subject: box ^ and you select an icon with a radio button.

I just selected a green grinning thing for this.
