Type 2 diabetic taking metformin - impact if fasting?

Hi
I was just wondering if there is anyone using metformin and 5:2 fasting? I am concerned at blood sugars going too low on fasting days if I am taking the same level of medication? I know the answer s going to my doctors, but he's no going to be impressed with this diet I think, very traditional doctor!
