5:2 after crashing with shakes?
24 Jan 2015, 15:31
In 2013 I was 5:2 fasting and it went well, why I stopped... I have no idea???
Now I'm crashing with shakes for 3 weeks, and then I like to fast again.
I wonder is that possible after a bad weightloss with shakes?
I know it is not good what I am doing now, but I was despered :(
Yesterday I read something about fasting, and my thoughts goes back to 2013 when I felt good with fasting.
So I was looking if this forum still exist: YES!
I think at the time the weight lost did not goes that fast as I wanted...
But if I persisted I was at a good weight at this time :(

So, still one week at the shakes and then finaly a good eatingpatern. What do you think guy's?
Please be not that hard on me
... please delete
I don't know that shakes are a bad thing, there is a lot of evidence and studies to support them. If anything they will help shrink your stomach in preparation for fasting so you will feel like you are eating a lot of food when you get back to 5:2. The important thing is you keep trying! Don't give up!
I don't think anyone is a member of this forum to judge other members :)

I've no idea what your response will be to "crashing with shakes" for 3 weeks. If you feel healthy and you've not been advised otherwise, good luck! If you feel a bit rough doing it or it really doesn't appeal to you, there's no reason why you couldn't switch to 5:2 when you wish - and maybe save the shakes for your fast days?

I think we all have some understanding of your feelings of desperation. And yes, it can be upsetting to realise that if you'd stuck with something a year ago or longer, then you'd probably have achieved your goal by now. But I think most people have had experience of doing something similar - we impose a schedule on our weight loss and then become dispirited when we fail to meet it.

When you start your 5:2 I hope that you settle into it comfortably. If you have any questions then speak up and I hope that someone can provide a useful suggestion. :clover:
"Crashing with the shakes" in the US would mean "feeling awful and shaking a lot" Or do you mean you're dieting severely with those low calorie drinks?
You'll be fine when you get going with the fasting again! My only question is why wait for another week? As Tracieknits says, you could save any shakes you have left for fast days - if you really can't bear to waste them! I read your post as meaning that you are crash dieting by using meal replacement shakes, if the other meaning is the correct one then I would stop using them immediately!
This time around on 5:2 you will be prepared for a slow weight loss but remember that like the story of the Hare and the Tortoise- 'slow and steady wins the race'! As you have been severely reducing calories on your 'shake' diet, when you re-start 5:2 you may have a few weeks when the scales don't show much of a loss, so make sure that you measure everywhere so that you can monitor your progress that way!
Good luck!
Thanks all for your encouraging words!
I'm using 3 shakes/bars a day low carb/low calories. Yes, to loose weight fast.

I have no problems with a small amount of food, so these 3 shakes (or bars) per day, go easy on me. It's always the cravings between meals what gain a few pounds a year
Now I remember why fasting did not worked for me in 2013 I think on the eating days I did not ate enough calories ....

My plan was when I started with the shakes/bars, to do it 3 weeks and then start all over, like a clean start and a new beginning of a healthier diet.

I will measure myself right now :-)
