Cholesterol Test - gulp!
20 Nov 2013, 17:34
Went to the docs yesterday for my annual pill check. My BP was lovely at 130/70 (I have had BP problems in the past which have left me with a little "White Coat Syndrome") and I bravely admitted that I've never had my cholesterol checked so I left the surgery with the paperwork to have a blood test tomorrow. Now that I'm 50, I've just received an appointment for my first mammogram in a couple of weeks so I may as well get everything checked whilst I can!!

I'm actually quite nervous about the result of the cholesterol test as I know that there are no physical symptoms or body shape trends. Having been eating healthy for the past 6 months, I would hope that it's not too high.... I wish I'd thought to have it taken at the very beginning of my journey because I may have been able to show how IF helps to reduce it... who knows... if it does come back high and they want me to start on statins, I may ask to defer it for another 3 or 6 months, continue my healthy eating and then request another test to see if the trend will show that my WOE is reducing it naturally anyway.

Will let you know the results in due course.....

I had been on a statin for years but after going back to my doctor and being retested he said I can now come off them because my cholesterol level is within normal limits now. He said to keep up with the 5:2 diet as it is obviously suiting me. I will! Hope that helps you. I think your plan of action is a good one!
