I agree with you little joy that it is possible to fast and inhale and enjoy the good smells

I also agree things smell awful too that are what others are going to eat which are too fatty.

Ha ha with the kitties

I am with you benchurki it is something significant, I was thinking like our bodies trying to make us eat but I like the primal thought but am now thinking some of those woolly mammoths would have not have been a good smell and I might have run the other way

Yeah, that makes sense Benchurki! Funny gillymary for running away from a smell of a woolly mammoth.

I work across the street from a very fine restaurant. Every day they make something delicious with garlic. It smells so good! It gets me through the fast day to smell something yummy and then drink my tea.

I suspected as much

I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this. I'm afraid my senses are still completely centred around food smells,so smelling the roses is currently out of the question... unless there's an edible variety

Definitely! I so remember in the early days of fasting someone ate an orange on a bus. It smelt amazing! I have definitely noticed an enhanced sense of smell since I started on the 5:2.

I'm coming around to the idea that there might be something in this. Especially to things that you don't have very often. For example, I noticed last night that my father in law smelled of milk. (no he had not spilled any down him). He eats a very dairy rich diet and I rarely eat dairy. I had heard once that Japanese people think westerners smell of milk. I have no idea if this is true or not but last week I was alert to sugar in the air, last night milk! Bizarro
