Good to see you back @LilSmiler! :)

You are not alone in having put on a little weight and then having trouble shifting it - as I am sure you will have seen if you have been reading the threads. I am sure you have been reflecting on what worked for you last time, and trying to replicate this. Can you pinpoint what might be hampering your loss this time?

I know I sound like a broken record of late, but I do recommend reading Amanda Sainsbury-Salis "Don't go hungry" books about managing your weight through listening to your body's signals re hunger and satiety. If you have read the "wobbly" thread, there is a lot on this there.

I am one of the lucky ones who has managed to more or less keep the weight off that I lost, although I have struggled a little with maintenance. I am hoping that following Amanda's approach, which I have only just started doing, may be the way that works for me, but it is early days. I will still be having fast days as needed though, and also because of the health benefits.

Good luck and best wishes for finding the right approach for you this time! :clover:

Welcome back! I'm a few pounds lighter than this time last year, but not as many as I'd like. Glad to have you back :-)

Hello there, how's it been going apart from the weight gain of course. People disappear, and many many return. Nice to have you back, sort of !! Even if it means you've had to gain weight to come back and say hi.

I'm great thanks Lil. I've put weight on too even though I'm still fasting. I just keep thinking how much worse the gain would be if I didn't fast.

Hi, @LilSmiler! it's good to have you back! Sorry that you've put some weight back on but at least you are dealing with it now. It seems to be the experience of a few 'returners' that it's more difficult to lose weight the second time around. No-one seems to have come up with a definite explanation but I wonder if people are less 'strict' or focused, eat more on non-fast days than they did previously or have less to lose than they originally did, which would affect the rate of loss? Whatever the reason at least you are now on your way and it will get better! Good luck! :clover:

Whatever the reason for the difficulty in "re-losing" regained weight using 5:2, I can say that from the perspective of somehow who hasn't (yet) backslid, it scares me "straight"; that is, I feel I'm far less tempted to make "exceptions" than otherwise.

On my light days, I wake up in the morning thinking, "It's a light day"...and just in case I'm ever "forgetful," I've got my Google calendar set to send me an email those mornings to remind me. I really do intend to just keep going with 2 light days a week, forever. (Of course, we know how the road to h**l is paved, don't we? ) Realized this morning that despite news that my brother-in-law passed away from colon cancer on Monday (not unexpected, but faster than expected; thought I'd get to see him again, he lived near me), I have no feelings of wanting to eat because of it (today is a light day). I guess I'm more likely to use the emotional eating to "deal" (not!) with more minor issues; my "feast beast" as I've heard it termed is quite sneaky...it knows I'm looking out for its machinations in big things, so it slides in under the minor stuff...

@ferretgal, I'm so sorry about your brother in law, expected or not it must be so painful for your family. It's one thing which can stop us in our tracks the loss of a loved one. I hope you and your family find comfort in each other. X
