Help from Our Friends in the US
02 Mar 2015, 14:47
I was wondering if any of our US friends would be able to give me some advice so that I don't end up coming home cargo when I head off on my holidays to Florida next month

I'm looking for good places to eat and recommendations of things I can pick up in the supermarket to have with me so I don't give in to temptation while I am out and about.
The first week I will be in Lakeland for the Sun N Fun airshow ,and then we will be traveling about to anywhere with a good airfield.....we haven't planned that bit yet !

I appreciate I am on holiday and I will let loose a bit , but there is so much good food in America that if I don't reign myself in a little I will regret it when I get back..also I am the only lady in the group of us going so I need to make sure I don't spend an entire 2 weeks with nothing but beer and chicken wings for dinner !

I love seafood so I am hoping I will find lots of that and the one thing I can't resist (and wont !) is good BBQ I spent a lot of time working in North Carolina and got absolutely hooked on BBQ while I was there

So if anyone has any advice on where is good to go , or where is best to stay away from I would really appreciate it
https://www.panerabread.com/en-us/home.html A friend of mine likes Panera Bread when she's traveling with her kids because of the breakfast options. If you click on the menu and nutrition, they have the calories right on the photo of each selection.

Personally I like walnuts as a snack, but any nut is ok. I suppose it's the high fat content they have that makes them satisfying and helps stave off hunger. :) It's easy enough to carry around a pack in your bag and also convenience stores and gas stations usually sell them. You can buy individual apples or other fruit that don't need to be chilled to have with you.

In Dr. Varady's book "Every Other Day Diet" she claims that people who chew gum typically do well on the diet. That can work for me especially with a minty gum. Let's me get some therapeutic chewing in plus I know food will taste horrid with the minty aftertaste so I don't eat for a time after. If you aren't a gum chewer, there are sugar free mints that might do the job.
