General 5:2 and Fasting Chat

Hi team,

I wondered if I could do a straw poll to get an idea of how much water the regular losers on 5:2 drink per day.
Does any measure or log this?

Kind regards,

Wibbles
I start every day with a glass of freshly filtered water, then have another two sometime throughout the day/night. There's also the two mugs of decaff black coffee and a herb tea to count, so at least 6 watery drinks for me :0)
I don't drink much straight water. On any day I will have 2-3 cups of black tea and 2-3 cups of weak coffee. A miso soup as well on some fast days. I have a few sips of water throughout the day and during the night - prob no more than 200ml in total on average. If I have something very salty, then I will drink lots of water, often with a very small amount of cordial, but that doesn't happen on fast days. I have a lot of salad and other vegetables, and quite a bit of fruit, and I understand that the body's need for water is mainly met through food. But on a fast day, since you don't have much food, more water is needed - tho the quantity seems to vary a lot between people. When I first started fasting, I drank a lot of herbal and fruit teas to help the day pass, but I don't need to do that now.
Actually just counted it up.
Roughly 8 mugs of water @ 300ml a pop- 2.4l
plus a couple of glasses of mixy up juice and fizzy water, say 600ml
3l of water- no wonder I'm swittlin - and this is fast and ordinary days
*runs to the loo yet again* :)
I am a huge drinker, 2 to 3l water a day sparkling or not, every day and I don't count in the black coffee in the morning, several cups of mint green tea during the day, and the 500ml soup for dinner on a fast day....
Thanks @Manderley @janeg @Sassy1 @Azureblue for your prompt replies.
I'm definitely at the Manderley & Janeg end of the spectrum. It is only noon here in the UK and I have already drank about 6 x 300ml glass of still water (context is that although this is a fast day, I also jogged for 30 minutes so need to re-hydrate as well)
This is a significant increase to normal as I am trying to get my body to let go of the water it is hoarding!
Reason is although I feel great on ADF I have gained 1.5 lbs in weight since yesterday so it is obvious that as I am running every other day and fasting every other day the only reasonable conclusion is that I am retaining water...
Hence I am drinking alot today and like @janeg running up and down the stair often :-)
I hope that this continues over the next few days and shows on the scales.

If the exercise is a new thing, that'll definitely contribute! The muscles get stressed and hold onto water initially. Also as you kep exercising, yo may find that the inches/sm decrease, but the scales may not show a decrease. Maybe even an increase.
Are you measuring too as the tape measure can be much kinder than the scales?
Hi @Janeg

Thanks for the tips. I have been jogging now for about 2 months (on a c25k plan). However, as I am relatively new to it, each week is a step up in intensity or duration so the muscles will be getting stressed and breaking down & rebuilding themselves.
Hmm..
I hadn't thought of that. I'll measure my waist after I've been on ADF for a month and see where I am.
Thanks
Wibbles
