I Need Some Advice
01 Feb 2014, 22:54
I started 5:2 3 weeks ago and have lost 10lb so far ( the second week I was a bit ill so didn't eat much anyway all week). I have been putting my calories into myfitnesspal because I had no idea what I was eating and wanted to make sure i didn't go over my TDEE so cut out all snacking. The problem I am having is I think I have cut out too much ( I do tend to be all or nothing) and over last week I have worked out I am down 2000 calories down on my TDEE ( worked out over the week). I don't feel hungry ( which believe me is a first) I am worried about famine mode and starvation mode as I don't want to go through either.I feel happier and not stressed and it isn't making me grumpy. Is that too much of a difference should I be eating a bit more.

Hello and well done for your lose so far. I really cannot answer your question apart from carry on as you are and then reassess if it stalls big time. There are many more experienced members here who may be able to add more. Good luck from me.

Thanks for the reply. I want to make sure I do this right. I have never really dieted before hence the 17 1/2 stone start weight.

Maybe don't worry about calories on your non fasting days. Look into it if you stop losing for a while. Just concentrate on eating 500 cals on your 2 days and relax on the rest. It sounds like your appetite is being reset and now you need less food. That has happened to me and lots of other people. I see it as now I'm eating like a slim person.- eating only when hungry, eating till comfortably satisfied not overly full and not eating just because its dinner time when you are still full from lunch. Celebrate it!

Good advice @julianna agree don't worry and just do 5:2. It's your early days and they are the easiest and the weight will just melt off you, all the other stuff happens much later as weight loss slows.

The original formula works a charm and for some people that is all it takes so enjoy and see how it unfolds you your particular instance

 Hi @Brand-ie I would carry on doing the same if you're feeling OK as you do but try to eat up to your TDEE on normal days but don't worry and stress about this because this is a stress free WOL.
I've been doing 4:3 + 16:8 for 9 months and have had amazing results and only now having my first wobble therefore more able to deal with this further down the journey. enjoy

Thanks everyone I am not overly worried. The reason I started counting was because I know I was eating at least 750-1000 calories over my TDEE a day until I started this WOE.

Somehow the fast days help the brain work out how to regulate better. You might have very hungry weeks then weeks here you don't fancy anything. Go with the flow & unless you end up eating on average through the week radically less than you need to, don't worry.
