I've been feeling inspired to try a limited run of additional restrictions (to break my plateau), a la FastBeach Diet. Just got the book from the library, but today I started back to work, rather a big schedule change. Today is a normal day, but I'm feeling hungry earlier than usual (tum a bit upset too). Tomorrow is a light day, which I will keep; however, I'm wondering if y'all can advise whether I should wait a week or two to start new restrictions to allow my body to adjust? I'm a little worried I might lose my motivation if I wait, but if I try now and it's too hard, I might ditch it altogether. I currently do straight 5:2 on Mon-Thurs.

I' m not sure what FastBeach entails FG ..but if youre not sure youre ready for more restrictions, why not wait til after the Easter holiday? Do tomorrow's fast then go easy but enjoy Easter, then on Tuesday 7th April, see how you feel about adding in some FastBeach stuff..is it related to Fasting or does Fast in this case just mean a quick diet with fast results? My feeling, hard earned,is that they never provide a quick fix,so ( if thats the case) i'd be more inclined to add thru doing 4:3 or back to back or ADF x
As 5:2 is really is lifestyle way of eating why don't you just commit to banning certain carbs on your eat days. SouthBeach is really a carb restricted diet plan.
A potential benefit of starting it now is you are in the middle of a change already so it can be easier to change your existing habit. Your motivation is also high.
If you decide it is too hard, then would you be able to stop yourself from ditching new restrictions altogether? I took a look at Mimi's FastBeach Diet in an article she wrote. Could you commit to a one or 2 or even 3 of the tighter restrictions that you will stick to even if you can't make it through the entire bunch?
I noticed that I'm doing some of the aspects of the FastBeach Diet on my reboot of 5:2 and the weight is coming off more quickly than my first time around (extending the fasting window with one evening meal, few or no treats or alcohol). So I suspect that if you can stick to just a few of the restrictions for the 6 weeks it will help you off the plateau even if you find yourself falling off the program early on.
