I don't know if anyone finds these post useful, but here it is anyway:

I am doing okay, partly because I have no social events this month and MAINLY because my hubby Is doing this with me. I look forward to the hot cocoa he makes in the evening instead of my glass(es) of wine - well, "sort of." !!!!!

So, @lovemyparrot, have you been following the suggestions from the links you have given us?! I found them interesting.

Maybe next year I should join you but make chocolate the item I don't consume for the month! Will have to get very little chocolate for Christmas to do that - which is probably also a good idea!!

Best wishes for the rest of the month! :clover: (Does the site you linked us to give tips for how to manage alcohol after Jan?! )

Yes, they do, @Sassy1 - its run by Alcohol Concern of the U.K. They are also a charity organisation but they give lots of tips and ways to cut back and/or manage alcohol in the coming year. Also, thanks for helping to keep this thread active.

Thanks, @lovemyparrot - I guess I could have explored the site myself!

I do like to read all the threads that are active, even if not overly relevant to me. And if I can think of something to add, I generally do. It is a pity that the forum is so much quieter nowadays - then again, keeping up with the discussion does take a lot less time than it once did!

Going well here. I did have a function to attend last week and had wine. So a bit soggy for Jan rather than dry. I might keep going though. I’m a better person without it.

I’m not doing dry January, but am generally soggy  I too feel better without it though.

Btw...
I’ve just been reading through this thread, it’s good to see familiar names from years ago. Well done everyone, you’re nearly there!

From the last Dry Jan/Alcohol Concern email:

"This is it people. The last night.
Just a few hours between you and the eternal glory of knowing that you did it, you bid booze goodbye and kept January dry.

That’s something to be proud of.

Hopefully you’ve learnt a lot from the experience. About alcohol, about health, and about yourself. Whatever happens come tomorrow, whether you drink or not, no one can take this away from you."

I have at least another day to go as I started one day late - and, after that, I am going to really try and cut back a LOT on my previous drinking. We will have to see how that goes !!!!!!
