When I go on a holiday I gain 4 kilos in 8-11 days. I try to lose a couple of them beforehand but I still lose all of them in a week after I've come back.
Also, when I go for dinner one night, I'm a kilo heavier on the next day.

I'm very much familiar with how much I can gain after a crazy week or a crazy day BUT I am also familiar with how much I can lose after a sensible or low cal week and if I don't lose it then I do have to find out what is wrong.

Don't forget that many members of this forum have issues and conditions that slow down weight loss and they have to constantly monitor what's going on. You are lucky to have lost so much weight, you are lucky to feel secure with your "questionable" scales but not all of us are like that. :-)

Brilliantly written post.
Guess you can take neurosis out of the dieting (by switching to 5:2) but that doesn't necessarily mean you can take it out of the dieter!!!!!!!
Laughing at the madness of it all is good for the soul

I don't have a problem with the weight measurement - but I do have one with my waist measurement so I can identify with you! I start off in the morning with a flat stomach, but by the time I have drunk some water, I look down and there it is, gradually getting larger - and larger. No food, just water - and perhaps a little gravity is helping along the way. Then it comes to eating and now my stomach decides it is going to firm up be more noticeable, particularly when I'm sitting down and it even makes a few noises to attract attention. It doesn't matter if it's a fast day or a feast day. Next day we start the cycle all over again!

Is your stomach a friend of my stomach? Do they plan together how to irritate us? It's the third day of my period today and I look like I swallowed a basket ball.

My scale jumps around 4-6 pounds on the first days of my period! Scary stuff but at least daily monitoring has made me aware of it and taken away that particular neurosis!

I have a similar issue except my weight can change as much as 6 or 7 pounds from morning to evening! It can be very demoralising but because of this I am actually more concerned with how my clothes feel. If they feel nice and loose, I am a happy bunny :)

Found this to-day from years ago of failed dieting attempts. It seemed appropriate to post it for a smile I hope, and perhaps to lighten the spirits, if not the weight on a bad reading! In the past I felt like this, but no more, as 5:2 has got rid of all doubts and fury.

I am known to kick and say a few nasty words to my scales every once in a while.

Brilliant Katharina
Love the way she calmly strolls out the door.
I've been much more akin to the tasmanian devil myself.
But maybe one day, Here's hoping

Me totally agree with that statement about the scale tale.
