What motivates you on a bad day
21 Feb 2013, 10:32
Have you promised yourself a treat when you reach your target weight?

Im looking forward to going shopping & choosing summer clothes on the basis that I like the look of them rather than having to think 'that will hide my fat bits.' ;)
so on a bad day I focus on that & it helps me to carry on.
My treat was : No more pain.

I have damaged knees and the lighter I am the less days per month I spend in agony. I hit target before Christmas and have (touch wood) not had a no walking day since.

But yes focus on things you will have and will do rather than any negatives. It makes 'eyes on the prize' easier.
@ talkingpeace,Im glad losing the weight is giving you good health benefits, I had to stop running because of a dodgy knee, it's horrible having health issues due to weight & Im hoping to be able to start running again soon. I know it's fickle to think about shopping but Im sick to death of dwelling on the negatives and the thought of getting back into a size 10 is nothing short of... FANTASTIC!!! :)
Like Shazzam, being able to wear what I want to without worrying about how it looks/feels. :?
what motivates me is being able to wear my clothes again - everything is too tight! Im so sick of wearing big black baggy tops to hide the fact that my jeans button has to be undone!
I have sciatica, which can get REALLY painful. I know that if I lose weight and continue to exercise then I will have fewer problems.

Also, I know that I must have a fair bit of fat around my internal organs...I think about getting rid of that.

Plus, I've got 2 pairs of expensive jeans that I can't fit into at the moment. I look forward to being able to squeeze my butt into them!
Remembering what it was like to be able to throw anything on and not worry about how it looked, being able to wear anything i wanted, being able to get back into the wardrobe full of clothes that don't fit me, getting my confidence back, not feeling self concious all the time, not feeling reluctant to go out because nothing fits and everything that does feels uncomfortable. And most of all, my wedding in September. I've had my first dress fitting and I do not want that dress to be still be the right size in 5 months time.
The other side is the food issue; not trying to hide my eating habits, getting away from the constant binge and starve cycle, my OH actually getting to eat some of the chocolate and crispsin the cupboard rather then me scoffing them all in one sitting when he's not looking, and mostly not feeling constant guilt because of constant overeating
Here's a video that shows what focusing on the potential results can achieve

@Starskey1, that was so heartfelt I really wish you well with 5:2 and that you can regain your confidence & most of all that you look fantastic on your wedding day x
OMG TIP that you tube video is something else. Brought tears to my eyes..........I can achieve anything I want to and so can anyone else!
@talkinpeace, wow!! youtube video made me cry, talk about being motivated, sheesh !!
Thanks @Shazzam - for some reason lack of food seems to be making me very emotional at the moment :):).

@talkinpeace - what an amazing clip, I've just shared it with my team at work....a great sentiment and very inspiring
The interesting thing with that chap - Arthur Boorman - is that the original pictures were 5 years ago. Look up recent pictures of him.
Yoga will help to keep you toned and lean
and the mental side of it will help with linking brain to body and eating well
Motivation....looking at my shilouette in the mirror....only lost 2 lbs so far, but not as bloated, so look slimmer already....x
TIP thank you for the link to the video it really brought a lump to my throat. It makes me feel ashamed worrying about slightly dodgy arthritic knees if he can do it I am sure I can persevere with losing my extra weight. ;)
