Re: Fasting IBS

I almost never have problems with IBS anymore. I found mine was primarily related to stress and rich (fatty) food. I have very little stress after retiring, and rarely eat rich food in any quantity.

The few times in the last few years when I feel the stomach ache coming on after eating, I take a small peppermint or drink some peppermint tea and it goes away immediately instead of progressing.

Give peppermint a try and see if it helps.

Martin Might it be you can't tolerate oats,
someone mentioned in this forum that they break their fast with a banana. An option!
Emceedee my gut is happier on fast days 5/2 but noticed my stomach feels sore when empty on the marathon 36 liquid and fluids only 5/2. I do have variety in drinks keeping tea low and have peppermint or ginger herbal both good for digestion.
Found the other day a puy lentil chick pea dish I made on a feast day made me so crook with gas for whole day thought I had a bug. 2 gassy items combined way too much for me
