Lifelong debate - breakfast or no breakfast? I don't get hungry in the morning, I know some people desperately need something at 9am but I don't, I can eat at lunchtime. So if breakfast 'apparently' speeds up metabolism as many websites show. eg this one: http://www.fitday.com/fitness-articles/ ... eight.html
then how does IF work? Arghh, seems to me that the main reason people are advised not to skip breakfast is because we may snack on bad foods later in the day.

What are everyones thoughts on this? Did you eat brekkie prior 5:2 or have you always been a late eater generally?
I don't eat for about 3 hours after I get up in the morning. Just not hungry. And I'm not gonna eat if I'm not hungry! But when I do eat, it's breakfast food. Then if I have a lunch, it's around 2:00, but it's very small. Then supper is around 6:00. My biggest meal. And I know that's bad, but it's our family meal.
Croissants, Chelsea buns, Calzone, Chapatti, Ciabatta...

Hi Sophie

I've always eaten breakfast, prior to 5:2. I swallowed all that guff about it being the most important meal of the day - when, in fact, it's probably the least important.

Now I know better, I probably do without it more mornings than not. It was invented by people like Kelloggs, I believe!

Cheers, B&W

Hi, I haven't really eaten breakfast on a normal work day since about 1992 and so my poor old body had real shock to its system on my first fast day. Even though it was only a tangerene, I was ravenous by lunch time, which I'm not usually without breakfast. So this week I'm going to save my tangerine calories for my lunch! I think it'll work better for me psychologically!
I have NEVER missed breakfast! I wake up starving and it's the first thing I do-eat!! Until my first fast when I tried going overnight and all day, eating my 500cals at night. And I managed it! I can do without breakfast without any ill effects! And that's what I have done on every fast and still feel fine. No-one was more surprised than me!
Thanks guys, I didn't eat until just 5 minutes ago today (2pm) and I am on a feast day. Although weekends my usual eating patterns all fly out the window anyway! Lol :)
It was me that started the other discussion call 'breakfast of no breakfast'. I've changed my way of eating so that now I listen to what my body wants. I don't eat breakfast on fast days and probably on two of my feed days a week now. I'm not making up for it during the day so that's fine. The advice from the forum is great and it just goes to show that you don't have to believe everything your parents have told you!
Exactly, it's an old wives tale, as long as you don't eat rubbish to compensate then what's the big deal? Waheey, baking a massive chocolate cake today. Me trying to lose weight? Who'd of known! :)
