I have realised that for most of my life my treats have been made up of around 90% food! Treat of pudding as a child for eating all my dinner to a sweet after every page of revision as a teenager to a nice (fattening) lunch as an adult as a reward for doing a horrible job.
I am trying to replace those food treats with other things which is making me feel a lot happier. I have only just realised that my food treats were making me miserable.
I am slowly adding pleasant things to my day and would like to add some more to my treat list and would be interested in what you come up with.
Since starting 5:2
I have had been to the hairdressers for the first time in years.
I went to Boots and had a free make up consultation then bought an expensive foundation.
I have a long hot bath every fast day while the family are eating dinner.
I make myself a comforting hot water bottle in the evening while it is cold.
I try to save up my favourite recorded TV programs for fast day evenings.
While watching TV I have now stated manicuring my nails instead of eating. I have buffed my nails until they are really shiny...yup still have one food treat and a glass of wine, but have stopped the "What shall I eat next" thing.
I am surprised what a difference these things have made. I am sure I look younger, not because of the expensive foundation but from being happier and more positive.
