Hi all,
my name's Julius, I am Italian and Saturday while reading the newspaper I read an article about 5:2 diet and ended on this forum. I didn't have breakfast therefore I decided to give it a go. Finished the day with approx 650 cals all day long, eating fennel, a soup and some meat that are in the cans for lunch and had a very large plate of pasta for dinner. It was a bit hard because I was thinking about food all day long and trying to think about what food to eat and made it quite difficult to get to the evening but I managed to do so. Today I returned to my usual pattern that is a moderate way of eating anyway.
I am 1.77 and 79kg and would like to lose 5kg at least. I can't say I am fat, but I am a bit overweight. I do a lot of sports since I like ultramarathons and ironman and today I went for a 32.5Km run since I preparing a 100km run in May. Sport has always helped me in keeping my weight under control, but I know that if I am leaner I am faster (I was 74kg 2 years ago and felt great). I really hope this diet is not going to affect too much my training. Today the run was fine even if I came from my first fasting day and as usual when I go for a long run I don't have breakfast (it helps the body to look for fat as a resource) so I hope things will get better and hopfully the weight will drop. Tomorrow I want to start a proper week planning the 2 fasting days on Monday and Thursday, so tomorrow is going to be a hard day, but I am prepared for it, just have to find the right way to divide the meals during the day and find something I can eat that doeasn't have too many calories (I suggest fennele).
This site offers quite a bit of help and suggestions so thanks to everyone who moderates and posts in here.
More during the week.
Have a great week.
Julius

Wow! A 32 km run sounds fairly strenuous--sounds as if the kilos will be melting off. I am active too even when IF and I'm able to do my workout 3-4000 m swimming without any noticeable problems or hunger pains.

Hi tompan,
as I said I like ultramarathons, ironman and extreme runs, but this doesn't mean I am ultrafit. I love Nutella and not only and therefore struggle to keep with the weight. I am lucky that sport keeps it a bit under control, but needed something to do the extra mile and it seems that 5:2 works quite easily.
On the other side you are doing good too with your 3/4000m swim. When preparing for my IM I had to do those long swims and didn't really liked them too much. Hats off to you for doing it.
Ciao
