My weight has stayed the same for over a month now and I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere, I seem to put weight on one week and lose it the next week. I really want to lose a few pounds before I go on holiday in 6 weeks so going to try doing 4:3 for a few weeks to see if this helps. Has anyone else tried this and if so how did it go? I don't think I could keep this up for the long term but just feel like I need to do something different as my weight just is not budging at the minute!
Hi ktlou82 - I have been pretty much doing 4:3 since I started just over 4 weeks ago. On the 3rd day I am not quite so cautious - may eat another 100 cals if I feel hungry, also if I have some social stuff happening then I don't do it. However I find it so easy to do because I feel really full (read bloated & piggy :>)after my normal eating days (I think I need to eat way less than before) that I look forward to fast days. This week I will do Mon (to replace my usual Sunday I didn't do )Wed -Fri as my bit extra calories day & Sun as usual. I feel rightly or wrongly that because I only had 6kg to lose from the start that it may take longer than I would like on 5:2. I have lost 3kg in 4 weeks and I am very happy with that. I struggle with lunch on my normal days because a) I'm a dog walker so I need to eat while driving or I have a pack of dogs jumping over me salivating! Also I am a vego so finding something healthy to hand eat (& buy quickly) is not easy - tried taking (soggy) sandwiches and had dogs foraging for those too. So for me missing lunch is no biggy so long as I drink black coffee during the day I feel fine. No harm in giving it a go and see if it kick starts your weight loss. You may have to alter how you do things eg have a later dinner the night before or change the way you eat on the fast day - I do veg soup for bfst then 400 cals for dinner - has worked OK so far, but everyone is different. Good luck!
Thanks GMH! I'm going to try Mon, Weds, Fri. At the moment I just eat dinner on a fast day, but as you say I may need to try splitting calories between a couple of meals and see how it goes. Fingers crossed I will start seeing some results!
Hey good luck. Lots say they prefer just 1 meal and find they are less hungry - I have just got into the habit of a HUGE bowl of vegie soup 70-100 cals for bfst and whilst I am hungry during the day it's not bad. Also I guess since I am almost doing ADF I am really getting used to eating less and find I am feeling ill when I inadvertently eat a 'normal' thing only to find I should have had half. Let me know how u get on
