The night before a fast
10 Apr 2013, 16:34
Do any of you have a particular meal or ritual the night before a fast?

I always ensure I have a really filling meal, usually a little later than my normal dinner time of 4/5pm. I enjoy every mouthful, knowing that tomorrow I'll be doing without. Tonight I'm off for a curry with friends and should be eating about 7pm - that should fill me nicely and not give me hunger pangs the next morning.

I was a little excitable the night before a fast when I first started. now that I've been doing it for a few months, I really don't think about it. If I'm truly hungry, I might have a small, nutritious snack before bed, but I try to avoid sugar. I have found that eating something sugary before bed makes me hungry in the morning. So I might have a small bit of unsweetened yogurt, or a slice of toast with butter, or some cheese or nuts.
