It's now 7:30pm and I have no appetite at all because I have an horrendous cold.

Is it ok if I just don't eat?
Just had a tin of soup and I feel better, so guess I answered my own question :)
When you are sick, your body focuses on recovering, so you lose your appetite. It takes a lot of energy to digest food. Also, you lose your sense of smell, thus interest in food with a cold. I should know, I just recovered from a terrible case of bronchitis.
I think that if you don't take medication, it is OK to not eat much for a day if you're unwell.
Although, as you discovered yourself, some soup (especially if you make it spicy) will definitely make you feel better.
