Fasting today and RAVENOUS
12 Apr 2013, 11:56
I have made the cardinal mistake of having an oxo drink and it has made me feel like I could eat my own leg. Should stick with the black tea and coffee on fast days. I can see its going to feel like a long time until I eat tonight

Ha ha. If I had eaten earlier, I would have eaten all day. No, I stuck it out until 6p.m. Had a lovely thai vegetable broth and I now feel stuffed!

Some of the health benefits are supposed to come from giving your digestive system a rest and allowing insulin levels to drop off. Constant eating defeats both of those.

Like Phil said, having no food for a longer period of time has more health benefits. Besides, snacking on a fast day just increases hunger pains. The body says, "Oh, there's food available? I want more!"

I go 24 hours with no food and then have a small meal at the end of the day. For me, that makes it all much more tolerable. I'm only hungry for a few hours up to the time I have my little meal. I can then relax, go to sleep, wake up and eat normal again.
