General 5:2 and Fasting Chat

Just read an article in the States on a possible way to prevent Alzheimer's or at least improve the odds of retaining memory - many foods were recommended but the suggestion below sounds very familiar, don't you think??? :

"Eating your last meal of the day 12 hours before breakfast may help save your memory, Isaacson says.

There is animal-study evidence that substances called ketone bodies, which are produced when there are no carbohydrates to burn for fuel, may have a protective effect on brain cells. "Based on dog data -- it's not great data yet in humans -- those two to four hours of mild ketosis may have a mild antiaging effect on the brain," he explains.

Try this: If you routinely wake up at 6 a.m., try to eat your last meal at 6 p.m. the night before. When you wake up, have a low-carb meal (such as protein and healthy fat, like eggs and avocado). Start by doing this once or twice a week. You may be able to move up to around 14 hours of "fasting," several days a week."

Think they are endorsing 5:2 and they don't even know it - quite unusual in the U.S.!!!!
That's great! Thanks for the info - do you happen to have a link to the article?
Hi, Moogie, glad someone noticed. There are just too many negative comments about our WOL in the States. Below is my original link:

However, the links inside this article only seem to lead to a commercial website dedicated to selling the original book. I was hoping to find something better. Still, its a start.

P.S. I am into my second month and doing quite well !!
