General 5:2 and Fasting Chat

Derailed at Easter!

Today I am fasting again after coming off the rails over the Easter holidays. I fasted for the 2 weeks before which was fine and lost 2 lbs. Then had a week in London attending a couple of seminars and staying with family. I had casually thought I would manage one day fasting whilst away but found it too hard, then when I got home I was feeling unwell and had the kids at home so once again didn't manage to do it and then there was another week of easter holidays and of course chocolate was involved.....

So 5 weeks later I am back to square one having put on the weight I lost and annoyed with myself for not being more disciplined.

Still, being an optimistic kind of person (and having a clear run of 12 weeks before my summer holiday), I am starting afresh today being a little wiser and considering my previous experience as a practice run! It seemed relatively easy last time as I work part time close to home and don't have a strenous job and easy whilst the kids were at school and out of the house. However I realise I hadn't got the habit of fasting well enough engrained to withstand the temptations of Easter. See here goes again!

Well done for sorting your head our and jumping back on board! You haven't allowed yourself to think of it as 'failing' and you are extremely positive about your whole experience. I think that's brilliant and would like to wish you all the progress you deserve.

There is absolutely no scientific foundation for what I am about to say - but it has happened enough times for me to believe it - here goes! 'Weight which has gone on more recently comes off much more quickly than long term weight.' That's what I believe anyway. That two pounds will be gone in no time! Let us know how you get on this time around.
