General 5:2 and Fasting Chat

I sent a text to my group leader today to say I wasn't going to be attending anymore. I didn't tell her about 5:2 or that I'd been on another plan, just that it wasn't for me right now.

My thinking when I first started 5:2 a week ago was that I would continue to go to my SW group 'just in case I didn't like this plan and for the support'...

History: did SW, lost over 3 st and got to target Jan 2012. Took two years to get there though  Had some medical problems and had to stop exercising, but had already started slipping away from target :frown: Had surgey in December, went back to SW this Jan at about 1.5 st over target and basically haven't got anywhere since :frown: I haven't found the group helps me support wise, which I always did before. That's me I guess, but also, the diet seemed to have stopped working for me.

Well, I'm already convinced this is the way forward for me.

Aside from the one day semi-fast I did as a trial (to see if I could manage it) before ordering the book, I've been on the 5:2 properly for a week now and done three proper fasts so far (weds, sat & tues) and am finding it really easy. I really thought I would struggle with the fasting as I have always been a three square meals a day person. Not much of a snacker although I do love a glass of wine a couple of times a week

Progress... Well I did actually measure properly at the beginning. I've already lost FIVE lbs!!! I've also lost 1.5" off my waist and 1/2" off my hips. Because of some medical problems last year, I had extensive tests done and although apart from my remarkably good cholesterol (3.8) I don't remember the numbers. I do know they were all fine.

It's no exaggeration to say that I LIVE for food. I love to cook and read cookery books like novels! I also decorate cakes as a hobby - baking is my particular passion. I have never been able to really accommodate that as part of SW or prior to that, WW. With the 5:2 I feel I've finally found the perfect solution. I have promised myself that once a week I will cook something new, something I've ogled in my books but never allowed myself to have  I can't wait!
Welcome to 5.2. Grea trews about your weight loss so far, this is a great forum. Friendly and helpful. I'm sure we can be as supportive as sw

I've lost 18lb now and on the home stretch only had a stone to go.
In january I neve rethought I'd be where i am now, it's great!
Sorry many typos!

1/2 stone to go and not been deprived of anything

Fast diet rocks
