Does anyone else suffer much worse hangovers on the 5:2? Dinner party last night and red wine consumed - feeling dreadful today - last fast day was Thursday last week so ate normally on Friday and then party in the evening..... do you think that fasting makes the effect of alcohol worse?

Don't know if that's a fasting effect but I've been cutting back on alcohol and not drinking in the week, since before I started 5:2.I'm now a real lightweight and do feel a hangover more than I used to.
I feel for you. I have noticed that I don't seem to have the ability to drink as much as I used to, but haven't noticed hangovers being any worse. I do tend to eat a bit heavier when I've been drinking, kind of trying to sop up the booze. lol
Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

I suppose I have been cutting back on the booze as well as doing the 5:2 so maybe it is just a case of overindulgence with booze and rich food - hoping I feel better tomorrow as I have a sponsored 10k run to do .... Eeek! Plain-ish pasta and an early night I think ... Thanks for the support.
Yep..... I'm also a has been drinker, now a lightweight!
Hangovers are rare for me as I hardly ever drink so much that I have one, but I did have one very boozy night before a fast day and I found that the fasting and drinking lots of water got rid of the hangover by lunchtime.
I'm with Betsysgr8 and chichi13 - seem to have become a lightweight now. I know that's a very good thing as I used to think I was becoming a bit of an alcoholic. My husband can't understand it, though, and thinks I'm denying myself something I really want . . I do still want a glass of wine with dinner but enjoy one glass and, if I do have more, end up with a headache. Its just another good benefit of the 5:2 WOL.
