So ...yesterday was the first of what I hope are many fasting days to come. However I'm feeling I can't eat "normally" today, like I'm still watching my calories and obsessing about my intake far too much and struggling to relax into the feast day. Now, this could be a good thing as it means my body is very rapidly deciding what it does and does not want/need :victory: OR I'm going to feel totally un-refreshed for my next fast on Thursday.. What should I do?? Ignore it? Force feed myself a Mars bar? Or just shut up and realise this will happen from time to time.?
I think it's normal and what helps is doing a weekly plan for your meals.
So you eat well and don't fret too much about calories. It helps a lot, because in my experience if I don't know what to eat at dinner, when I come home tired I really don't have time nor the desire to cook healthy things... but if you do it beforehand you stick with it!
Yes I suppose when I get into the pattern of on /off I'll be able to keep up with the changes. I'm going shopping tonight for nice fast day things to keep me amused and have just decided on fish and salad for tea.....I'll get there!! :like:
I had the same problem when I started 11 days ago. I found planning 4 days ahead helped a lot. I even baked a lemon sponge cake the other day to force myself to get my cals up on normal days. I used to love baking, but after a year of watching what I eat everyday, eating super clean and feeling guilty, I now feel free to eat properly 5 days a week. And I have lost 3 pounds doing it! :)
Gillybean - I'd suggest you just make sure that you're eating round about your TDEE on feast days - you will get used to this, it may take a while for your body/stomach to get used to the changes. But if you're not hungry and don't fancy it then I certainly wouldn't force myself to eat a Mars Bar (don't understand that concept, I could always eat one of those hee hee). Don't fret too much over it all - and certainly planning your meals until you get in the swing of things will help you too. Don't shut up about it - you'll always find someone here to listen to you and offer words of help/support etc. Good luck :clover:
I think you will be fine for your Thursday fast. I actually do 2 moderate days between my fasts as I start all 4 of my work days the same. Then the 3 days I have off of work I don't pay any attention at all, just eat what I want when I get hungry. And I have no problems doing the fasts.

My first week, I had a very hard time getting anywhere near my TDEE. But that didn't last.
Thank you all for your responses...I actually had to change my fast day due to a family meal I'm having tonight. So I fasted yesterday...and today I feel on a more even keel. I'm not due to fast until next Monday so I'm sure a little piggy gluttony can be achieved by then!!:)
