Naturally produced B12

Here's why I, as a vegan, don't feel the need to take any supplements (apart from ground flaxseeds) - it appears that B12 is produced naturally when you fast:

No, that is incorrect. The authors of the study speculate that the bioavailability of B12 is increased ie. it is either released from body stores or is diverted from other pathways. That is not the same as synthesis of B12, which humans cannot do.

I don't know about vit B12 but I was very interested in the fasting/inflammatory connection.
I had polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) for three years taking steroids. I am now in remission but if it does recur I have always felt I would try and tackle it using anti-inflammatory foods first before starting steroids. CRP, mentioned by Dr Eades, is one of the measures of PMR, though a few people do have normal blood markers - the only reliable way is by trying a steroid and seeing how the patient responds.
I would add that a common side effect of taking steroids is weight gain, particularly around the middle - and the hamster face. 5:2 has enabled me to lose that - and to feel so much fitter!
