Well, I don't think I'll ever eat a burger again now!

Moogie!
Sounds like there are lot of strong willed people on here!
Vending machine successfully avoided, twice actually. Didn't have anything from it today either. And even though it's a feed day for me, I don't really feel like going overboard..
I sort of feel cautious of being sure I'm allowed to eat one bag of crips on a feed day. Craziness!

Elaine, well done for getting through without succumbing to the vending message. I don't think we're any of us particularly strong willed or we'd have succeeded in the first diet we ever went on and never put the weight on again. The beauty of the 5:2 lifestyle is that it's only 2 days out of 7. Why not have a long bath and plan what you're going to eat for dinner tomorrow?
Keep busy.
Eat an apple (71 cals)
Take a hot drink.
Go for a walk.

I find that if I'm peckish on a fast day, having a drink helps much of the time. So does promising yourself whatever it is tomorrow. If unable to stop grazing, I put a small dish of Bran Flakes beside me with some sparkling mineral water; if I'm going to graze, at least I'm getting a little soluble fibre. A few of them help to stave off hunger pangs but it doesn't really matter if I finish them off. As time has gone on I've found myself able to enjoy the feeling of being empty most of the time and the urge to graze or snack on fast days has gradually dissipated.
Look for distractions.... fast! I've only had four fast days but they have been so difficult that i have had to make a list of all the things i could do to take my mind off it!
I went for a long walk in the woods yesterday! No food to drool over, just quality time with my little one. I think plunging yourself into something is the way to do it!
Other distractions:
Avoid:
Looking at recipes
Meal planning
Food shopping
Coffee shops

Other distractions:
- Shopping (not food)!
Pamper yourself - i had a bubble bath, body brushed, pedicured, manicured, eyebrows... after an hour and a half it was nearly time to go to bed and forget about the fast!
Brush your teeth - once you have a lovely fresh mouth it puts you off wanting to eat
Look at photo's of yourself at your heaviest (if you are doing this for weight loss) - that is usually enough for me! Maybe put some of your slimmer pics up around the house - a constant reminder of your goal should give you some strength
Do those little niggly things at home that you keep meaning to do, i.e. sort that cupboard out, fill your photo albums, back up your computer, clean...
Do a little workout / dance (even if you don't feel like it, it can sometimes make you feel better)
Watch a good film
Declutter - prepare for a car boot sale perhaps - use the money to treat yourself to a new pair of jeans once you reach your target!
Have a supportive friend - call them up for a pep-talk / distraction
Hobby - learn a language / musical instrument / knitting, sewing, crochet.... (not baking or cake decorating)!! lol
Invite a friend over
Play a boardgame

Meal planning
Food shopping
Coffee shops
