When do you see a drop?
12 Jun 2013, 14:37
I've been doing 5:2 for about a month now. Tomorrow will be my 10th fast day. I have noticed that, for me, I never see a drop in my weight on the scale the day after a fast (unless I was super high on sodium the day before and retaining water), but I usually see half a pound to a full pound drop the day after my first feast day.

For example, my weight was steady at 226.8 over the weekend, through my fast on Monday, and yesterday morning. But then, after eating normally yesterday, my weight was down a full pound to 258.6 this morning.

Has anyone else noticed a trend like that? When do you see movement on the scale?

Hello JamieLogical,
I have an aversion to scales, so can't help from personal experience. However, if you take a look at kencc's log he charts and racks weight daily in vey impressive charts and you should be able to read from that when he and his other half see the loss in ealtion to fast days.
And no doubt, others willbe along soon to add their experience
:)

I only see a drop on the morning after my 2nd fast day of the week, which is Friday morning (I fast on Mondays and Thursdays). I can be as much as 4lb heavier after the weekend on Monday mornings. I have learned not to weigh on Mondays! My weight has been going down steadily each friday morning by approx 1lb and my clothes are much looser, not long now til shopping for next size down, woo hoo!!
Good luck Jamie, at least the weight is going in the right direction no matter what the day!

Hi Jamie.....For me I see the drop on the day after a fast, but I know there's been talk on here of the same that you are experiencing - that is the day after that. As janeg says, there'll be others along shortly to add to your survey of experiences  I weigh myself daily and track on an app on my phone - that way I can see that the trend is continually downwards, so all's well with my little world !!! :clover:

Anecdotally I have a 1kg drop on the day after the fast, followed by a series of a few hundred grams gain for the next few days till I fast again - depending how big those increases are, I either gain or lose each week. But up till now I havent recorded the daily weights, I have just added Libra to my phone, so I can store the daily fluctuations, to help me make better decisions about how to fast/feast.

I wonder if it has more to do with what we're eating on feast days than NOT eating on fast days. I track my calories every day of the week and I also try to not overdo it on sodium. People who are more free with their feast day eating might be taking on more sodium, and therefor more water weight on feast days. Thus the see a large drop immediately following a fast day, because they are presumably ingesting minimal amounts of sodium on fast days and therefor seeing a drop in water retention from their fast.

Like I said in my original post, I usually only see a "drop" in weight immediately following a fast day if I took in a lot of sodium the previous day.
