Weighed myself yesterday and since 27th may I am down 0.75 pounds I have been eating a little too much on non fast days but still within 2000 cals for the main part my tdee is 2189. I am thinking of doing the 8 hr diet between 12-8 and then two fast days a week? Will this speed things up my sisters wedding is in 3 months and I really want 2 stone off...

Thanks I knew ballerina did it but thought that was just maintain and wasn't sure about combining it with 5:2!
Hi Claire, I've not seen much movement in the scales since Easter, although I've been sticking to the 5:2 regime 90% of the time. Easter weekend, birthday, and two bank holidays have not helped....The past two weeks though, I have been doing 16:8 on the non fast days and a couple more pounds have shifted. Early days to really assess it properly but good signs. My problem is that although I don't massively overeat, I still slightly over exceed my TDEE sometimes which counteracts the fast days.
Anyway, after years of eating breakfast, I have now found that I am able to skip it so don't eat anything now before 12pm and then just try to have a light lunch (200-300 cals or something). That gives you plenty of calories to play with for dinner.
Just some quick maths, if you want to lose 2 stone in 3 months then you are looking at just over 2 lb/wk weight loss. If your TDEE is 2189 then to maintain, your weekly calories would be 15,323. To lose 2 lb per week you need to have a deficit of 7000 cals, so 8323 cals over the week. You will use 1000 cals on the two fast days so the reality is, on the other 5 you are looking at (8323-1000)/5 = 1465 cals per day.
Hope this helps, Julie

I've decided to do 16/8 at weekends along with two fast days on a Monday/Thursday. I seem to 'take the brakes off' on a Friday and blow my hard work. I don't have much left to lose but just want it gone now! Let's give it a go Claire we've nothing to lose but weight

28 lbs / 12 weeks = 8200 calorie / week deficit required.
2 days at ~1500 deficit only provides about a third of the cut you need.
5200 / 5 = 1040 calories less than maintenance on each of the other 5 days to meet your goal as stated.
I am also trying this on two or three days of my week & leaving the weekends as a normal eating day. I would also like to pep my weight loss because I am losing weight slowly. So far I am still losing weight but it varies from week to week, but I think worth you trying it Claire.
Why not Claire I do 5:2+16:8 am into my second week and I have started to shed again. I reckon after 1 week of it you will get to know if it is for you.
From dinner on the 5:2 day to the first meal the next day a 16:8 is a stretch but I have found taking dog for a walk going to gym or being busy and before you know it you can have your lunch and it is then an eating window of up to 8 hours.
Love how Madge and PhilT have done calculations for you as well. So if you pop across to the 5:2 + 16:8 thread by Ballerina you will find heaps of discussion. Also have no doubt Ballerina will be along soon. Wait there I will give her a hoy @ballerina
All the best with it

Thank u so much everyone
The calculations are extremely helpful and it doesn't sound as daunting as I thought!!
Just had my first food of the day as corned beef sarnie! I work 10-6 so by the time I'm up ready and walked the dogs I don't have time to think about breakfast and then between 10-12 I just get on with my work so I think the 8 hour feeding window will suit me. I wanted to do 11-7 as the window but by the time I finish work walk the dogs and sort dinner it's normally half 7!!

PhilT: I am doing this now and was wondering how you calculated how many cals people need each day as above. I weigh 11 st 13 pounds and I would love to get down to 11st or less within 2 month as Im off to Africa on holiday.
How many cals do I need to try consume each day to lose maybe 2lbs a week?? I will be doing 2 fats days with 500 cals.
Thanks
Karen
