This morning my radio woke me up with a report on type 2 diabetes in Scotland. It was a bit scary actually.

It is really prevalent in Scotland apparently, largely due to obesity. The most frightening part was when they talked about life expectancy post-amputations. Stats suggest that 80% of sufferers would die within 5 years of an amputation. So so sad.
I don't suppose many people think about diabetes unless they know someone who has it. But if 5:2 does all the good things to blood chemistry that it's supposed to, then surely reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes has to be a really great reason to stick with it.
