I need a bucket
11 Jul 2013, 05:23
I am browsing recipes and food, that means I cannot get a grips on fasting. Its mental I know, but its torturous.
I was looking up how to fry up mushrooms, for my son's dinner and I come across a full cooked english breakfast, english style and of course pictures. I now need a bucket for my drool.
Its how I cope with hunger, at least I dont cave and instead of eating I browse food pictures, but its torture. My tummy has been making lost of noise today. I've only had boiled egg and black coffee, I am now going to devour cut up peeled cucumber with salt.
I love the end of the day, but its snail pace. I sometimes cannot endure a minute more and end up having dinner at 4.30pm

Can I have one too please? I also look at recipes on my fast day and decide what I'm going to cook for the family at the weekend. Why do we do it to ourselves? Are we masochists? At least a bucket is more environmentally friendly then disposable napkins...

I thought it was just me who did this   must be a switch in the brain which is thrown the minute it realises it's a fast day ...

My colleagues at work have called it: food-pornography ;) (I hope I can use this word without being caught by the web police) I am too torturing myself by looking up recipes on fast days, especially cakes!

Interesting. I typically go grocery shopping on fast days, and I enjoy it. I have even cooked a few things to eat the following day.

Well funnily I went to get some soup out of the freezer and shock horror nothing there! I usually have about 6 containers of it, I'm losing my grip obviously and def not looking at Porno recipes LOL anyway I had some mushrooms I bought from the local mushroom farm, so a dash of oil in a non stick pan, sliced up the Portobellos and had them on a piece of Sonoma Soy & Linseed toast. Yum! didn't feel like a fast dinner and not so many cals either.

I'm going to make rye sourdough in my bread machine tomorrow, I may just go to bed early to speed time up. Also going to make vanilla bean ice cream in the ice cream machine. I'm seriously drooling I wonder if I really get it done, my intentions are mean though.

I have managed to have a full english on a fast day. It was small and had a few omissions like the bread products and orange juice but I did it.

Zamale, you said you had an egg and coffee only. Why not the 500cals?
A nice salad and soup so you can have dinner with the family? Premake your fast day meals or the families so you don't have to cook on those fast days and drool. Or make them chicken breast and broccoli that way you can eat that too.

The black coffee and boiled egg was pre dinner, I had soy marinated chiicken breast with baked sweet potato circles , few cherry toms and mushrooms. I was content.

This thread is starting to sound like food addicts anonymous.

My name is Zamale and I do love to look at food recipes and pictures. It helps me stay on track and not cave in and eat over my 500 calories.

I drool over pictures only to make them recipes on a feed day:)

I often do the food shopping on a fast day and I don't buy any more than if I wasn't fasting, in fact I think sometimes I'm stricter on the treats for my family! I also like to read my Good Food magazine or look at the website; it doesn't make me any hungrier though. I had a lovely red thai curry with quorn fillets and lots of veg last night which my boys also ate.
