So last month and this month I have had the same problem, that one fast around the middle of my cycle is really difficult, I feel super hungry and have HUGE cravings for things like peanuts (ie super energy rich stuff).

I am rather assuming that this might have to do with hormones, and that ovulation is demanding my body get as much energy as possible. Just wondered if anyone else had experienced the same!

I'm not taking any hormonal contraceptives or anything.
Yes I have cravings for chocolate mid cycle and fasting overall has helped curb my cravings (been fasting for about five months now). Although last night I demolished about five chocolate biscuits - something I have not done for months and I really could have kept on eating but I just had a big glass of water and forgot about eating (well I made myself forget).

The same is true for today I could still go for some chocolate biscuits but I am holding out as tonight we are have a fancy dinner for Bastille day and there will be dessert so instead of having chocolate now I shall save the cals for dinnertime.

My peanut craving came a few days ago but I slow down my peanut eating by buying peanuts in the shell as when I have to shell them myself I find I eat more slowly and therefore I end up eating less.
I do have a really hungry day the week of ovulation and during the PMS week. I definitely feel it is hormone related and my main strategy is to try to ease it with protein and fat rather than carbs. This helps for me, at least a little bit. Also, the odds are sometimes in my favor and the hungry day falls on a regular day rather than a fast day.

I have only recently begun tracking all my cycle symptoms on an android app. The one I use you can just click on whatever symptoms you are having and even how bothersome they are on that day, slight, moderate or extreme. Over time it should be interesting to look back and see how the pattern emerges each month. Now, if I notice eating getting out of control I open the app to see whether I should blame TOM or try to figure out if it is something I ate or something that is eating at me.
