Progress reports

I have been trawling the internet looking for reviews and other people's weight loss news on this diet (came across this forum on my way :D ) as I would love to read about more success stories, think that would really keep me going. So if anyone has been doing this for awhile and can tell us their experiences and how much they have lost that would be great. :?: I am third week in having just weighed myself for third time and after initial first week weight loss of 5 pounds have lost nothing more which is a little disheartening but am thinking this seems to be pretty normal having read other posts.

Hello Tinky and welcome to the forum. Lots of success stories here, just read around! Also have a look at the forum statistics which prove how 5:2 works for loads of us!

5 lbs is a huge weight loss in 1 week, so it may have masked some ongoing weight loss the following week. Don't worry just stick to the 5:2 formula and it will work. See you around! :)

Hi I lost 4lb first week, then nothing, then 3 and today 1. Felt very put off when hadn't lost, but the feeling soon passed. Keep busy and remember that weight loss is never that predictable, but it will come off. Good luck!

Hi Tinky - I am new to 5:2, only two days in but I have noticed over the years that all weight loss programs have the same weight loss effect. That is big weight loss immediately then may be nothing leading to smaller loss if the dieter kept dieting. The first loss is mostly put down to water loss. Any diet takes time, any good diet. I am in my seventies and realised that my first diet was over fifty years ago. My last successful diet was with Slimming World which like 5:2 says it is a 'way of life' diet. It is if you keep thinking about what you eat every day for ever. The good thing, as far as I can see, about 5:2 is that you only have to really think about it twice a week! That is what attracted me as I have always gained again after every loss how ever good I tried to be.
I must also say the other health benefits seem just as important to me, I enjoy life but arthritis is something I fight all the time and inflammation is said to helped by 5:2 plus many other things including a longer life. Yes, I still want mine to be longer. Great luck with your 5:2 diet, I'm sure we will both benefit in many ways.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts, very helpful. I suppose I did already know a lot of what you have said, but sometimes you just want that weight to fall away in a few days and it just wont. I agree that this is such a good diet in that you only have to do it twice a week and fits in so well when you want to socialise etc. When you think that one pound of fat is 3500 calories it will take several weeks to lose a few pounds so it is important to be realistic. On a fast day today and it is so much harder being at home and fasting than being at work where I am constantly busy and unable to eat, temptation is so easy at home, but so far so good :D
