The trouble with non-fast days
12 Feb 2013, 15:46
Apologies if this is in the wrong place - I wasn't sure where to put it.

I, like many on here I suspect, have been one one sort of diet after another for the past 6 or 7 years and as such am used to eating a certain amount every day and watching the calories.

I completed my first fast yesterday, didn't have any trouble apart from a headache which I suspect was caffine related, but today I find I'm having bother reaching anywhere near 2000. I know I shouldn't eat if I'm not hungry, but at the same time I don't want my body to think I'm starving it, if I carry on at this rate I will have 2 days at 500kc and 4 at 1200kc and one day over at the weekend.

So.....I don't really want to eat a lot more bulk wise, but thought I'd see if I could find a more calorific way of doing it - I'm going to swap out my semi-skimmed for whole milk for starters, does anyone have any other ideas of stuff I can either swap out or add to my meals to help increase my calories?

(I'm planning on using pancakes to meet today's target ;) )
Butter!

I wouldn't worry, you'll probably have to ramp up calories slowly or otherwise you'll have a reaction as documented elsewhere on here. :-)
Try adding some dried fruit &nuts, if you like yogurt then have the luxury of eating full fat ones & real butter.
Thanks folks - I think I'll see if I can pick up some nuts tomorrow, and I'll try and increase it slowly, not all at once.
