The panic this thread has instilled in me is not diet/weight related. Where the heck has autumn gone? I haven't bought a single present yet. Not to mention the zillion other things I need to get done before the end of the year...

Same here. Usually i wait till its all a hustle and bustle in the shops and quite frankly thats the most "apt" time to shop. Wouldnt be Christmast if it was calm would it. Just doesnt feel really like Christmas till about Dec 15 for me.
I fully intend to enjoy Christmas but I would add another warning

Don't go into the Christmas period without a plan of how you are going to fit the fasting way of life around Christmas, however long "Christmas" means to you - a few days or from the start of the party/ dinners period.

Some folk seem to derail at this time of year, not because they feast but because they haven' t decided in advance when to get back to normal.
So "Way hey from Christmas Eve to New Years Day then back on the horse on January 2, no matter what" is a plan. "Stop fasting at Christmas and start again in the New year" is not.
I know many of you were about last Xmas. I had my big op and just skipped breakfast every day. Maintained for a while then the excess caught up with me like many others there was a delay of weight gain of a few weeks. So be warned.
Excellent advice @barbarita! It makes so much sense to pin yourself down to exact dates. I know myself how easy it is to think "maybe I'll start again next week........need to hoover up all the leftover Christmas goodies first!" - so thank you for that pointer. Will ponder on it and come up with a definite plan for myself.....
I would also say that the time to do the thinking is probably now rather than during Christmas! In my case, I seem to need to make an appointment with myself to get in my own head - if that makes sense? Life is so busy for us all....and it is easy to let this slip to the very bottom of the the "to do" pile.......yet it is vital.

Many thanks xx

The kids are off for two weeks I think so will have a break while they are off.
