Hi I'm new to the forum but having been following the 5:2 diet for 6 weeks. I don't find the fast days particularly hard. However, I haven't lost any weight.... I'm wondering if anyone else has found this or if I am doing anything wrong?!
I generally have a fast day. So I generally go all day and eat in the evening. I would have had my last meal before fast day around 6-7 pm then nothing more than fluids for 24 hours. Some days I eat around 500 cals some maybe less than 500. On non fast days I don't generally eat as many as 2000 cals more 1500-1700. Am I doing something wrong, can anyone help? My clothes are looser so I'm not giving up but I do need to loose about 2-3 stone. I exercise 2-3 times a week... Spinning/gym/running..... HELP!! :?:

Hi Louispup, It's frustrating isn't it. I too have really only lost a couple of kilos since January (and if I recorded today it would say less but I am not going to enter that!!). The up side is I just took two work skirts in to be altered and the dressmaker said that I have gone down 2 dress sizes! I have never had that happen in 30 years of being a bit cuddly. So even though the weight hasn't changed much it seems to be being 'distributed' to the right places (as my husband has said). I think the frustrating thing with weight and bmi is that it doesn't really take that into account. Even my waist measurement has only changed an inch or two and varies from week to week. I think you need to keep the faith as if the WOE is not difficult for you there are no downsides.

I wonder if you are replacing some fat with muscle. This could explain why you're smaller not lighter.

Since you are getting smaller, I would say to try not to worry about the number on the scales, but I guess we all want to see it go down. Hang in there!

Measure your waist, and see if that goes down. I have only lost 3-4kg in 9 weeks, but 10cm has come off my waist, so I know it's working. I'm also looking at it as a slow but permanent way of losing weight. It took me a long time to gradually put the weight on, so I'm ok with it being a gradual reduction too.
