I have three apple trees in my garden - one that produce nothing, one that don' t taste much and get ugly brown spots and one with the most glorious apples. I call it my Snow White tree since it produce wonderful red skinned apples and if you polish them, the shine.
But, we are very bad when it comes to eat them all, so yesterday I decided to make dried apple slices. Have a hot air oven (which helps) that I set at + 100C, peeled, de-cored and sliced the apples as thinly as I could (ought to get a mandolin), placed them on baking sheets on a tray, sprinkled with ground cinnamon and placed in the over with the door slightly open. Turned them when they where dry on the top and the whole process took round 3 hrs I think. The result was crispy or chewy (depending on the thickness of the slices, and quite delicious. Had a small bow while watching The Fast and the Furious 1
They didn't keep their crispiness overnight though (not sure why) but now I have three trays with slices in the oven and I might store them in a tin can.
Have no clue on how many calories each slice has, but it can't be many. Although I wouldn't binge on them on fasting days
