Benefits & Side Effects

I've been on 5:2 since late August. I have found the fast days pretty hard for the first week or two. Now they've gotten pretty easy and I am amazed at how long I can go without getting hungry.

The biggest benefit I'm seeing is my appetite and attitude towards food on the non-fast days. I thought I would be starving and really want to eat, but that is not the case. It seems like before I started this, I was always thinking about the next opportunity to eat and looking for an excuse to go our to eat. Now I've gotten much more picky. Not just any meal will do, and lunch places I used to enjoy don't appeal to me as much. I am more likely to take a long walk during lunch than stop in for a bite. It is very interesting.

I just made steak fajitas for dinner. My husband is doing 5:2 as well, It was really striking how both of us got part way through the meal, then said that's enough, I'm full. We put almost half of the meal away for another day. That wouldn't have happened a couple of months ago. I am very happy that this approach seems to have reset my appetite thermostat to something more normal. I look forward to seeing what happens next
That's fab! Well done.
I have to say though I'm jealous. After 3 months on this WOL (and loving it most of the time) I still overeat on feast days and barely stop thinking about food. Annoying but I'm going to keep on keeping on.
Lil
Yes, I am finding that (but not today for some reason!), I am also consciously (most of the time) picking better options at last.
