Benefits & Side Effects

Hi all,

Today I'm on day five of fasting and have so far managed to do pretty well. I have found though that I'm really tired from about 2-3pm on fasting days. Has anyone else found the same?

I tend to eat nothing but cups of tea until about 2pm then I'll have an apple then nothing until 7pm and my evening meal.

Good luck everyone - only five hours till food . . .
Hi Gem. Yes I get tired too. I'm fine until about 4pm, and then I literally start yawning and feel low in energy. I don't have anything (except 1 cup of tea at 7am) until my evening meal.
I'll probably be in bed by 8.30pm tonight, but I usually sleep well. Its worth the tiredness though, as tomorrow morning I know I'll be fine :-)
I think my caffine intake staves off any real tiredness! Maybe its jut making you more aware of your natural rhythms? Its faily normal to have a dip in the afternoon (oh for a siesta culture!)
I did feel a bit like this at the start but now I feel more lively. Partly due to caffeine I think but some of it is the not eating. It seems to make me feel more lively general - which is great and unexpected even though the Dr Johnson book on Alternate Day fasting suggested that this happened to some people.
Hope you feel a bit better on other fast days.
I used to get tired on fast days - would be asleep in the chair by 8.30 - but I seem to have adjusted to that now, though it did take some time (been doing this since November). Now feel energised, but nicely tired and sleep well when I finally hit the pillow, usually by 10.30ish - hope you adjust soon too :)
