I'm not sure if this is something I should worry about, or if this happens to other people. On some fast days, I "get the shakes" in the afternoon. It's nothing severe, just a slight trembling in my hands when I hold things.

I had this at the start but now my body assumes I'm fasting if I haven't eaten by 12.
It's low blood sugar but soon you will get used to switching to fat burning. I'm sure some of the others can explain better then me.

I can't explain it (surprise, surprise, he he) but it did happen to me a few times. I mainly blamed the cold, wrapped something warm around me and made a soup to warm me up.
I do remember my mum telling me if I feel this way to always eat something savoury and wait 15 minutes. If it doesn't go away, to have a small piece of chocolate (that would help with low BP or low blood sugar which run in my family).
So, perhaps it wasn't the cold after all and it was low BP which the soup helped to rise a bit.

So, if you feel this way, a cup of soup made with half a stock cube might help a lot in this situation.
Thanks guys, glad to know that I'm not going to pass out or anything. I do have low blood pressure; I figured that had something to do with it.
Then you definitely need to either eat or drink something savoury. It doesn't have to be high in calories, cucumber with salt will do the job!
I had it too, after coffee sometimes, so thought I was a bit more sensitive to caffeine on an empty stomach. Another time I had a sachet of sugar (I was driving and it was all there was in the car) and that helped.
if you are used to eat a lot of carbs and sugar (the things that make us overweight to begin with), and then you suddenly stop (as you would do on a fast day), it would probably impact your blood sugar levels. Your body is still pumping out the insulin to keep up with all that stuff you were eating. Suddenly, you've got no food in you, so the insulin takes away the last bit of sure in your blood and you feel loopy. Once you adjust to the calorie restriction, you'll feel better.
Rufus, I'm not sure if this is the cause since I eat mainly carbs when I'm fasting and I still get it (although not as often now so perhaps it had to do with cold as well).
I think that not eating enough on one day hits us to where we are sensitive. For some it's blood pressure, for others it's blood sugar etc...
